Here's a link to a better than average calorie needs calculator.

- It permits selection from about 7 activity levels or basal metabolic rate
- Advanced options allows you to select the calculation method used
- A week long calorie cycling plan is included with the results
- One entry gives you calories for maintenance and weight loss at two calorie levels

The results include links to:
- calculate your macro nutrient rations by various diet plans
- estimate your time to goal by calorie deficit of up to 1000 calories daily (in general, a 2 lb per week
loss).

Oh cool,  I'll have to check this out.

You know Marcia I often wonder if these things really apply to us being that we are altered with having WLS and all.   The reason I say this is because the dam WLS dietician is always saying I should be eating 1,200 no matter how much I workout but do you know how sluggish I would be on that few calories.

I use it as a guide.  Most calculators are too high for me.  I like this one because I can chose the calc method and take the lower figures.  My surgeon wanted me on 1100 calories at five weeks out.  Less than that further slows metabolism for some of us.

Metabolism measurement should be part of the wls package.   Some of us have slower metabolisms and have to eat less naturally.  Others slow down our metabolism by eatig so few calories for so long.  Without having it measured, how do we kow where we fall?  That extra cost would pay for itself in avoided re gain.

Vacation!   I am so jealous but too broke for a getaway.  I'd take a free trip to West Hell right now as long as its warm and dry.    Oh blast, now this Roman Catholic girl's got to hit the confessional this week.

Hey MsHD, Its been a while.

Its got links to several other calculators as well.  I posted this to the rny board and got a complaint that the ideal weight calculator was too low
Not perfect, but I think that combined with your surgical practice's advice and a little common sense they provide good guidelines.
