X post - my 5K race this morning
I signed up to run a 5K race near my area this morning - I've run other races in the same vicinity. It's flat and near the bay, so it's really beautiful and scenic....
Anyway - it was only 5K - I run that a couple times a week on the treadmill. The purpose of me running it was for speed, to see if I could break my personal best of 37:17 on the treadmill - results are still pending.
Two things - I hurt my hip earlier this week and spent Thurs and Fri on rest days. I also bought a new pair of running shoes after being professionally fitted and finding it out 1) my feet are NOT wide and 2) I really shouldn't be wearing men's shoes. I always just thought men's shoes fit me better with a wider toe box - come to find out I have (and this is a quote from the sales guy) PRETTY BIG FEET. and no, that doesn't refer to their appearance. I'm a 11.5 regular width. Most stores only carry to 11, so no wonder I could never find a shoe..... anyhoo - I got a pair of ascics that are like BUTTER - love em! the run was smooth as silk.
HOWEVER.........
There was a dude (several actually) running with a stroller with his kids in it. that's right kidS...two kids in a stroller. He was pacing me. Every time I would pass him and he was walking, he'd start running to stay ahead of me. I peeped this game out early on and kept just close enough to him to know I'd kick his ass in the finish. Sure enough, we round the last turn for the finish line and this ****** tried to beat me! Oh no, my friend - you WILL finish AFTER the fat black woman! LOL (now - I only bring up race here cause he had no other attributes for me to pick on - he was good looking, average weight, blah blah - so I'm defaulting to race - had he been ugly, looked stupid or something - I'd have used that hehehehhe) So he did try to get ahead of me and that's when I opened up my FULL measure of energy and hit my full 5'8'' stride. I smoked him like a joint at a rap concert.......
I figured if he was gonna beat me he'd either have to ditch the kid buggy or do some Back to the Future type shyt and break out the flux capacitor!!!!
So when I was done and grabbed a spot on the curb to suck down some water, a lady sat next to me and told me she was pacing me! LOL - she figured if she could keep up with me, she'd done as good as she intended to. When I told her I thought I beat my record 37min - she said she sure hoped so, cause if I beat MY record - that meant she beat hers to, since she clocked right at 38.........
So - nothing to do now but chill for the day and wait for tomorrow's paper for the results!!!!! BTW - the stroller dude was REDDER than Rudolph's nose when he finished..... take THAT you ******!!!! Watch my back fat jiggle cause that's the only show from me you'll get!!!!! (yes - I'm petty - sue me!!!!)
