Friends,

I'm two days away from surgery and I am sooooo excited and enthused about having a VSG.

I was scheduled for surgery in August but he procedure was cancelled the morning of surgery. I was embarrassed and disappointed so I stopped posting to OH for a while. I actually went to have surgery and was all set. In my gown, compression aparatus on my legs, IV in my arm. They took my BP and it was high ... they took it again and it was higher ... they took it ten more times and it was in stroke range  -- 180 over 120. My BP is always slightly high and I'm on medication; than anasthesiologist thought we could move forward relatively safely. The Nurse Anesthesist pulled the Mrs. aside and said that she recommended against it. That in all her years she had never worked with a person with a BP this high in a non-critical surgery. I decided against having the procedure that day.

I'm now on stronger BP meds and I have tracked my BP every day since then. I was at 125/70 tonight and I feel better than ever.

Please keep my family and me in your prayers on Monday morning. Many thanks to all of my angels (Michele, PokerChips) who have kept me in good spirits and focused this second time around :-)

If God spares life, I'll see you on the losing side next week :-)

Nearly all of us have stories that may leave us feeling embarrassed in some way.  That is among the many reasons we find ourselves here.
My clearance was pulled because of stroke level blood pressure resulting in cancellation of an un related routine procedure.  Three new meds, a cardiac catheterization, and several months later I had my rny.  Safely and with bp worthy of an athlete.

That nurse was one of many blessings.  Continued blessings for a safe and uneventful procedure this time around.  See you on the looser's bench.
