Does shapewear really help to define your shape?

Good Morning,

Do you think wearing shapewear helps define your shape?  I have noticed since I have been wearing shapewear more lately that when I do not have the shapewear on my shape has become really defined.  I am a bottom heavy girl but my bottom has shaped up nicely.  I am wondering if wearing shapewear most of the time had anything to do with it. I am definitely the girl small in the middle but got much back.  What is your take on this?

Debateable, but personally I do think it helps.  Not that it re shapes you but it helps to fight gravity.  Akin to sleeping in a bra to slow the inevitable sagging bust line.

Wearing footless high waist shaping hoserie from legs has made a difference in these saggy thighs of mine.  Its also helps with my midsection.  When I go all week without wearing them around the house, my skin has more of that melting wax look.

After I shower I treat my skin with oil and a heavy moisturiser and aloe then the light shapewear.  There is a definate improvement in the tone and texture of my skin when I follow this routine.

As another pear/hourglass shaped woman, I think shapewear helped me at first to "hold me in" but the further out I got it  no longer worked and I don't wear them anymore.  I wish I could because more than anything I think that it just helps us look smooth.  Shoot I might have to look into ordereing online...Anyways, your definition is all you, shapewear enhances what you got instead of creating it, unless it's padded then that's a whole 'nother subject .  If you think it helps then  wear it 'cause it definitely won't hurt.
My goal 135; current 132;  pre-op highest 285; I have lost more than I weigh...  I my RNY!

Hi there,

I wear a shaping tank and briefs every day.  I notice that when I go without it for a few days I hang out all over the place for no good reason.  When I start wearing it again my body appears to be somewhat in check again.  So in a temporary sort of way I say it does help keep something together.

Another thing is when I wear a trimming belt during my workouts I see a noticable difference the next day/few days in my middle.  I know it may just be water weight or compression or whatever, but it sure boosts the esteem.  I'm going to keep wearing mine during workouts unless I find out it's harmful in some way.

An older client that is in excellent physical condition told me that the girdles she wore for years as a young woman damaged her in some way in her older years because of cutting off circulation.  She told me long ago so I would have to ask her about it again to get the details of what happened.

Yes it does; I never leave home without mine.  I will say though it does kinda trick you into thinking that your on track when your not and when you take it off reality sets in.  I am trying to get to the point where I don't need to wear one at all. I can't say that when I take it off I see anymore definition though, hell I wish.
