OT-I'm Pissy!

I have a Q&A quote by Dr. Phil on my desk that I refer co-workers to all the time.  It boils down to not thinking of it at "acting" your way to success but copying the behaviors of success. 

It has nothing to do with phoniness or cow towing on our part.  We must just do what we know is right.

 hmmmm - don't know if I agree there.  I personally view it as House vs. Field Negro...... where the quiet, agreeable docile 'House' negro can stay close to massa - but that loud, unruly mofo gots ta GO!!!!

No matter which way you look at it, you have to know the unwritten rules to play with the winners.  Knowing the difference and when to play which card gets you the respect.  Misplaced passivity can be just as detrimental to your career as aggression.

If a person is not savvy in this area, identifying and building relationships with professional mentors are great for coaching and guidance.

Y'all always wait until the day that I'm in the field to have a good juicy topic and now I have nothing fresh and new to add to it.  I think MM and So Blessed gave excellent expert advice  on this one.  However, all of that goes out of the window when it comes to what Birdman was talking about regarding us brothas (IMHO he's right too) but still very sound advice all around.

Reading this post reminds me of how blessed I am! Some people at work don't like my style, OR delivery...but they can't argue with results! Fortunately my boss really likes the job I do for him, and the chief actually admires 'assertive' women. LOL
