Damn straight it matters.  Just look at the persona's and attitudes applied to characters in media.  Most of us won't have to look farther than out own lives.   

Its more important for fat people to be smart, poised and confident because of the assumptions made about us.  Just like the assumptions about being Black.  Just like the assumptions about being female.  A fat Black woman has to keep proving to the world that these negative assumptions do not define her.

I posted about a similar topic on my FB page a few weeks ago and I know firsthand that people treat you MUCH different, especially guys and as someone mentioned above, sometimes it is VERY annoying but it is life... The farther I move away from my surgery date the more I forget that I was once a size 24 and not a 6/8 so I am accustomed to the way people act towards me but when it first started I was disgusted... I felt like why like me now when you did not look my way when I was huge...
