Your homework for tonight.
Ayy yo,
I strongly urge each and every member of the entire BAF congregation family and any of its other resident lurkers to log off of Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace tonight and watch Soledad O'Brien's yearly news magazine entitled, "Black In America" on CNN at 9pm EST.
Tonight Mrs. O'Brien will tackle two very important topics in our community: "Almighty Debt" - What the recession stole from black America & Money 101: Controlling debt. I don't know about you but that sounds like enough to make all of us stereotypical folks wanna put down that big plate of greasy chitlins, douse our favorite crack pipes, and stop brutally beating our baby-mamas for at least and hour or so. Right?
Black in America also promises to take us on an in-depth look at The black church and The Black Pulpit. I'll bet after hearing that Bishop Eddie Long is at home right now calling up one of his boys saying, "Dayum-it to heyll, Boo-Boo! I just know she's gonna try and put our situation on blast, Baby..."
Check it out tonight.
TRUE LOVE DOES NOT COME BY FINDING THE PERFECT PERSON BUT BY LEARNING TO SEE AN IMPERFECT PERSON PERFECTLY
"If you want to go forward, you put the car in D. If you want to go backward, you put the car in R." ~ President B. Obama
Hopefully this will teach some of us to work towards financial security as opposed to the accumulation of stuff. We've got to learn what debt is really costing us. If we did not pay out so much in interest we could actually afford much of that stuff we waste $$$ on. Deferred gratification pays off over the long run.

LV'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
Looking at some of our folks and their spending habits will make you wonder just how 'n da heck do they not see how much money they are actually wasting by trying to accumulate more and more flashy items, high gloss junk, and frivolous non-sense. Sneakers that cost "Lil' Man-Man" $190 and weekly beauty salon trips and treatments for "Lil' Tryshockqwaneekwa" at $80 a pop makes no dayum sense at all to me.
as for debt - yep - been there - done that... TWICE - filed chapter 7 at age 22 behind not understanding debt. then ended up BACK in a pickle at 32 behind being a single parent and home owner with no child support, trying to fund my bachelor's degree and heck - just life! however - I JUST dug myself out of that mess thru a debt repayment program and lemme tell you - I will NOT go back without a fight! LOL
I will definitely tune in!
I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions! I'm saving on the newsstand price.......
