Hi Aaron,

Hi.  BTW my friends call me Double_Ayy!

If there was a movie made about your life…

Funny that you ask that because I was thinking about that just the other day.

What would be the title?

"God bless the child, that's got his own..."

What actor would best portray you?

as an adult after WLS - Forrest Whitaker
after college - Al Roker (before WLS)
as a young adult - Treach (from Naughty by Nature)
as a kid - Macy Gray.  Hey I had a high pitched squeaky voice around puberty and I also had hair back then.

Would it be a drama, comedy, or horror flick?

All of the above.  Growing up is such an incredible/wonderful/scary time in any black male's life.  I think I've spent a great deal of time in each department and then some.

Favorite football team?

C'mon, Yo.  That'll be the NY GIANTS

Favorite restaurant?

At the moment I kinda fond of The Cheesecake Factory.

Pseudo-religious-turned-health reasons I think.  Back in the day, all the older cats on my block were big time into Min. Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam.  Since the NOI frowned on the swine we, by default, did too.  Though I'm not a member of the NOI, as I got older and weight-related health problems began to occur in my life I was thankful that I had done without the pig early on in my life because I would have had serious bacon withdrawal syndrome if I had to just try and drop it at this stage of the game.

MrD_A,  Welcome to the hot seat!

What has been your greatest accomplishment in life?  I'm not talking by "worldly" standards.  For you, what has been most meaningful?

For what event would you take a "do over" to fix a moment of regret, a wrong choice, or inaction that could have been action?

This weekend you have unlimited funds and resources (realistic and/ or magical) for FUN.  What would you do; with whom; planned in detail or spontaneous?

How many kids?  Boys or girls?  Aspirations for them?  Are your aspirations for each child very different?

What gave you that final push to have wls?  How have you celebrated/ rewarded your progress.  How will you celebrate/ reward reaching your goal?

MrD_A,  Welcome to the hot seat!

Why thanks.  It's a privilege and an honor... uh...  I'm very happy  to... uh...

What has been your greatest accomplishment in life?  I'm not talking by "worldly" standards.  For you, what has been most meaningful?

I
would have to say going to and completing college.  (Queue the soft music and harp strings)  There was a time in my life when hanging with the so-called wrong crowd almost landed me in a very undesirable place to be for a young black male.  I told myself & GOD that if I ever made it out of that situation I would get a good education and make something of myself.  Mission Accomplished!

For what event would you take a "do over" to fix a moment of regret, a wrong choice, or inaction that could have been action?

What?!  So you're trying to say I ain't perfect or sumpin...  Huh? I'm perfect as heyll.  Say it again.  I dare ya.

sike...

Again hanging with the wrong crowd I was prone to do a lot of dumb and stupid things for the sake of having fun.  However, I would like to take this moment, right here; right now, to atone for those past transgressions and any harm I may have caused anyone in the past.  I be's sorry.

Now go pick up my new book, "Preachin' on the BAF hotseat and other junk" in stores now.

This weekend you have unlimited funds and resources (realistic and/ or magical) for FUN.  What would you do; with whom; planned in detail or spontaneous?

You're gonna hate this answer but I am more boring than most when it comes to spending money.   And don't let it be FREE money...  Ahh dayum!  All I would do in either case is consult my financial advisor about where to put said funds and execute the plan.  Sorry but I don't have those "Pimp My Life" dreams that have plagued us for so long.  Saving for my kids rainy days is my thang.  Word.

How many kids?  Boys or girls?  Aspirations for them?  Are your aspirations for each child very different?

This may sound conceited or stuck up but I don't really like talking about my kids (or my wife for that matter) on here other than to say I have them.  I have two little girls and that's all I'm gonna say on that.  Sorry but BAF can be become one big High School Musical if you start letting people too far into your lives and then the next thing you know somebody says something out of line on  the backline and then  a fights break out;   possible lawsuits are filed; and the everyone is else just until the next round of  or

What gave you that final push to have wls?

Type II Diabetes.  I remember how it ravaged the life of one of my uncles who didn't drink or even eat a lot.  When it took his life, after amputation after amputation, I promised myself that it wasn't gonna happen to me.  When it did come on me I ran to my PCP and told him that I was going to have WLS and that he was gonna help me.  The rest is history.

How have you celebrated/ rewarded your progress.

Sorta.  I went to Cali about a year ago on vacation and bought two light colored leather jackets (other than the color black mind you) to help me celebrate.  I would have never done that at my pre -WLS weight.

How will you celebrate/ reward reaching your goal?

Probably I'll treat myself to a motorcycle.

With available magical interest rates you and your decendents will be set for many life times.  Now that's what I call FUN!

Word.  A buddy of mine has that live today/"F" tomorrow mentality.  He's the kind of guy that could win a millon dollars today and next week have to file for bankruptcy, because he can't adjust his spending habits to match his responsibilites.

Hey Double A what's up???????????

What is be like, Homie?!

1.  What do you think is your best trait?

Hmmm... Good question.  I think being able to tell the difference between when people are laughing with me; and when they are laughing at me; and knowing how to deal with either scenario.

2.  Have you ever suffered any major or minor head trauma?

Nope.  People ask me that all the time though.  I don't know, y'all got some accident prone mofos around here that don't know how to duck or tuck and roll when they fall or sumpin?

3.   What is your favoriate computer gadget?

Right now it's my Blackberry cellphone, but I do wish that the buttons on it were a bit bigger than they are.

4.   What has your weightloss allowed you to do better than you  did prior to WLS.

Walk up a flight of stairs without sounding like I just ran a mile really fast or placed a perverted phone call to a 1-900 number when I got to the top.

5.   How old were you when you lost your virginity?

Something like 12 or 13.  Talk about young, dumb and full of c...  Uh...  next question...

6.  Would you recommend WLS to a stranger unsolicited?

All the time, but I can tell you that folks hate that **** though.  Nobody likes to be preached down to or told that they need improvement no matter how necessary in either case.  So I have tried to begin talking about the benefits of WLS had on me first and then mention that I had it done.

7.  Does your poop smell better, worse or the same since WLS?

You dare eat and drink after that last question?  Well you're alright with me.  The smell (whoo boy) I must say has gotten worse due to all of that protein I have to ingest with my RNY.  I'm 6'4" and my surgeon says I need at least 90 to 120 grams of protein daily.  So needless to say the guy who has to detail my ride has to wear a gas mask to work on the inside of it.
