I did not have RNY but I agree with Mack 100 percent on why some African American women do not get to goal weight after weight loss surgery, most black women want curves quietly kept white women want them too...that said, I got the Lap Band, and if I wanted to lose weight I HAD to hit the gym, we have to work a bit harder with the lap band, I knew that going into it, since I wanted to be healthy inside and out.

Every since I had a hernia about 2 years ago I slacked off of my daily exercise due to pain and I have gained some weight back, I used to exercise at least 5 days per week, and I kept most of my weight down for 4 years until I slacked up on the exercise which GREATLY helped my weight loss and maintaining it.  I will try to start back up exercise again coz I really wanted to get back into my size 10 dresses .

I'll be 6 years out in just a few weeks.

I'm 5'2" and my weight hovers around 150.  According to the BMI chart I'm still overweight.  I could care less.

If I had plastic surgery and had them remove the extra skin around my waist and back, I would be smaller, but it's just not that serious.

I'm almost 50 years old.  I wear medium sized clothes.  I look like an average woman my age.

I'm healthy and I feel good.

On January 17th I will be 4 years post-op and 2 years maintaining 200 lbs gone. I have gotten up to 175 lbs. However, I weigh myself SEVERAL times a day and keep a close eye on my weight gain and loss. My surgeons goal was 175 lbs. My average weight is between 165 and 168. I am comfortable at that weight. However, i have to work to keep that weight...5 or 10 lbs makes me and my clothes feel different. Below is a picture I took Saturday at Brookfield zoo. I am happy with that weight and I work to keep it...It is not easy but for me it is worth it...I like the way I feel these days
