Join me if you will. Will ya?
I am a member of the finer womanhood/ blue and white family and I will have to agree with my predecessors on this post. It is truly a wonderful and invaluable experience.
I have been places on business in the middle of no where and had sorors and frat drive out to show me a good time. Mind you, these people donn't know me but because of the group I choose to affliate myself with; they know and trust my heart.
I have friends of other organizations and the greek family tends to come together and love and support each other.
No it isn't for everyone. Everyone must find their own niche but I will tell you this; professionally it is one of the better things we can do for ourselves. When you have people in important places that feel that through the shared experience of commiting to an organization and standing by it; there is a bond there that is unbroken. I have had many friends (usually business people) reap benefits from their affliations. So there is a give and take. I also think that once you past the college years there is an acceptance in the groups that is unparalleled.
Now as far as joining other things; yes I am in the process of joining another time honored Black organization. I believe in giving and service is in my blood so the more exposure for me the better.
It may not be the "in" thing any more but there is much added value that needs to be recognized.

Just popped in to say GOOOOOOOOO Morgan State University!
I attended Morgan because I wanted to attend HBCU. Prior to attending Morgan every school I attended had about 10 blacks (my sister and I were 2 of the 10) Morgan was one of the most inclusive educational experiences I ever experienced and I would do it all over again. I made personal and professional connections at Morgan that benefit me to this day. I can't say that for the predominately Caucasian institution I attended for grad school.
No I did not pledge......I'm not positive why because the majority of close friends were/are Greeks.
Double_Aye have you made any baskets lately?

I attended a non-HBCU school for both my undergraduate and Graduate education. Neither one were mad me feel like I missed out on anything; however, I am seeing a definite rise in ethnic enrollment by non-Black and non-Hispanic students at my old alma mattas though and a definite decrease in Black and Hispanic enrollment.

Don't feel bad. The majority of my friends were drug dealers and gangbanbers and I didn't join any of their organizations either.
