I am in shock that women sit in chairs for so long and have people messing in their head for hours upon hours, and then it can't be touched. LOL
And why the hell is most of the money in black hair business being made by dam asians. I am so annoyed by that, cause in NY when I was growing up there was so tension between asians and black folks and yet they are making all the money off of people they have tension with.
Well I did learn some stuff, if I was to ever get a weave I will look for 100% Indian hair from India.
Sadly its part of why we as a people have a lot of consumer dollars yet remain disproportionately poor. Money and debt wasted on stuff before aquiring appreciating assets. If only folks would just realize that if you focus on financial security, you will eventually have the means to comfortably enjoy buying stuff without going into hock.
I have not seen the movie but there is an excellent documentary (can't remember title) about Indian hair on LinkTV. They shave their heads in the temples. It is considered a high honor and a sacrafice to God. The temples sell the hair to wholesalers. This supports the monastaries, etc.

Tonsuring was highlighted in "Good Hair" and that part really made me uneasy. Their religious beliefs were turned into M-O-N-E-Y.
I found this on the net:
Exporters also buy hair from salons and rag-pickers. In the village of Bhagyanagar, Karnataka, about 2,000 families depend on the hair they collect from garbage dumps.
Gupta, the hair exporter, said that he distributes plastic bags to women in the local village near his factory in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, to keep outside their huts. Every time they comb their hair, those that fall are collected in the bag. After a week, a broker will collect these bags and pay the women a small sum.

It use to be the black man, they sold out to the white man who was undersold by the China man.
Dam shame.
It ended one day when my stylist gave me money for lunch...dinner and drinks before she was ready for me!
