HELP! OBESE TO ANOREXIA
Greetings Fam,
I just dont know where to turn. The problem is not with me. Last year my mother had the gastic bypass surgery she was 230 pounds in less then 1 year she is 112 lbs. Seems like a huge success however she looks really bad, doesnt eat, her skin is broke out, and she has no energy, as well as depression. This is what the doctor feared that 6 months ago that she was in a down ward spiral. For some reason the doctors dont know the answer or dont care. I was thinking of putting her in a treatment facalities. at this point i am afraid I am going to lose my MOTHER. Her body definitely cant be functioning properly. This surgery was a MISTAKE for her.
With that being said. HOW DO I TURN THIS THING Around. I dont know what to do so I turned to my BAF! those who helped me on my Journey.
Blessings.
Jas

Jas,
First, I hope that things get better for you and your mother. You state that your mother was 230 at her start. I am going to assume that she is on the shorter side because she qualified for surgery. I think you all need to determine if there are other medical issues or psychological issues. I see that you are making a few assumptions as to how your mother's body is working and wheter or not the doctors are involved in her care as they should be. How willing is your mother to work on her behalf? I know it may be hard for you to deal with but this is YOUR MOTHER'S problem. I am extremely close to my mom and I would want the best for her just as you do your mom. She has to be willing to fight to make things healthy for herself. You can't do anything to turn this around for her so please do no take or accept the blame for you adult mother's behavior. Like the old saying goes "you can lead the horse to water but you can't make him drink".
I wish you the best outcome. I hope that your mother sees the love and concern that you have for her and she begins to make changes for herself.
Peace and Blessings

The question that I am asked most often:
Is that your hair??????
A Phenomenal Woman who doesn't have to Ego Trip to Still Rise: Pretty women often wonder where my secret lies...I am a woman, phenomenally....that's me!!!!!

I'm so sorry for your mom's illness. Eating disorders need mental health care. For what its worth, as an anorexic there are more sources of care for her than when she was obese. Be it over or under consumption, food may be her way to express her deeper issues.
Depression is complex and way beyond what any individual can handle. I hope you can persuade her to get into treatment as well as to make sure there are no underlying physical causes of her condition. Best wishes to you both.

I agree 100% with the previous replies but I'll add this:
I read your past posts and:
She has(d) an ulcer. If she's having pain from it, this could be the reason why she's not eating a lot and she has no energy. Is she still smoking?
She looks bad. Sorry, but lightweights can look bad in the face after the weight loss. She's less than a year out so hopefully that will change.
Her skin is broke out. Acne is common after extreme weight loss. Our hormones are crazy. Or, she could have a vitamin deficiency.
Depression. Common after WLS.
How's her labs? What's her height? What's her attitude about her weight loss?
