Thorough Thursdays - Late Edition

This one is complicated.
1  -  How did you meet your DH?
Here's what I told my family intially: We met at a monthly dinner meeting (we belong to the same trade association) and he asked me out.

I actually met him on the internet. I enjoyed being able to pick and choose. My family (most of them) now know the truth. I lied to them early on because most of them have negative views about internet dating. Safety was their #1 concern and I got sick and tired of hearing my folks talk about an "internet date gone wrong" topic that they saw on the television.

2  -  How old were each of the kids when you blended your families?
My son was seven. Mike's daughters were eighteen and nineteen.

How did they adjust to each other?
My son didn't miss a beat. My father and brothers have always been in his life so he knows what it's like to have a "good" man around. The girls? Notsomuch.  They no longer live with us. Read
here for my rant.

3  -  If you could turn back the clock and do something of your choosing differently at any point in your life:
What would it be?
I would have told DH #2 to stay at home and not go over to his family's house.

Why would you choose this?

He was murdered that night. If he stayed, he would be alive today. Yesterday was his 51st birthday.

What difference would you want to result from it today.

My son wouldn't have suffered a loss of a parent at such an early age.
I wouldn't suffer from PTSD.

What heart ache to loose DH#2 so suddenly.  You're blessed both you and your son are making it day to day.  Some people never  find a way to cope for themselves much less raise a well adjusted child.

Hey ((((Juanita))))

What has been your most rewarding experience volunteering or helping others?

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown

Hey Faith!

A book and prom.

I volunteer for the local homeless shelter. Two of the most rewarding moments were when I met a teenager who felt out of place and didn't socialize with the others. I asked her if she like "Twilight" and she did. I gave her the copy that i brough with me. We are warned not to give/ask for personal info but she was wearing high school sweatpants for the school that my niece attends. I found out that she's good friends with my niece. They both doubled dated for prom too. I got to help her prep and it was wonderful. She's now in college and is doing great.

From home, I enter in the volunteer hours and I see that her Moms is now a volunteer. She was able to get training for a job and now has her own place. I feel really good for them!

I'm sending this from my phone so please forgive any grammatical errors

Thanks T.  I like your new avie as well!  (You've seen me in person...you know I don't really look like that...LOL.  Having the camera slightly out of focus does wonders for the skin.   )
