Fugg you; pay me!
Ayy yo,
Well it couldn't have happened to a dumber guy in my opinion. In the entire 75 year history of the Downtown Athletic Club there has never been such an embarrassing event such as this - Reggie Bush to return Heisman Trophy. Queue the melodramatic music and cut to the shot of somebody crying and falling all over the dayum floor, but before we run that footage can somebody tell me - What brought this all on?
Look everybody in the hood, like where Reggie's from, knows that if you're getting "da hook up" then you take care of those that took care of you. It's the modern form of bartering. That's also what seems to foster this "me & my posse" mentality that permeates the professional sports world so much, whereas guys from broken homes and/or very humble beginnings seem to want to carry their entire neighborhood on their back with them as they climb the revolving ladder of success and fame. It also seems to suggest that they feel, "when I needed support back then, these people around me were my support system." Good, bad, or indifferent, like it or not, it's all about taking care of those that took care of you on so many levels.
Obviously, however, Reggie Bush never got that message. Perhaps he was so blinded by the lights, glitz, and glamour of the big time professional football scene that it caused his temporary lapse in judgement. OJ Simpson was in a similar situation once remember. Maybe it was the huge Superbowl win Reggie's team, the NO Saints, had last year that made him forget the "little people" in his life. Just ask that former CEO-guy from BP that got fired about fuggin' with the friggin' little people. Perhaps it was the tons of xes being thrown at him from those C and D-list celebrities in Hollywood with or without xes tapes in production that hampered his judgement. He should know the rules, regardless, ya can't trust a big butt and a smile.
But I digress...
For me it boils down to a simple economics lesson really. If the entire bill from the guys that hooked you up, Reggie, throughout your college career came to about $300k, then what you do is break them off with about $1.5 million (don't front, y'all know he's got it) and tell those guys that your debt is now considered paid in full. Shake hands and part as friends. No hard feelings. That way it's strickly business. But noooooooo... Mr. Former-Heisman winner just had to make it personal and try to stick those two would-be sports agents for their paper and not pay them back. And their reply? See the subject line to this post. He chose not to and now he has to give his trophy back. What a dumbazz?!
Psst... Uh Reggie.,. The ones that you DON'T want to play with ARE the ones with a crimminal record. Trust me.
what's the REAL net effect now?
............ nothing.
So what if he gives it back - everybody KNOWS he earned it athletically.
Does he have to return any $$? Will the NFL cut his check? anybody less interested in watching the ninja run???
Heck - I still have a medal I won in a cello competetion from middle school - I entered late, and my teacher falsified the record to get me in, the medal is under the name 'Alma Hanks'. Do I need to give THAT back?
see - you just laughed and ain't really think no more about it...... same net effect of this ish right here. Hell - if you want to make a ninja give it back that SHOULD cause he is a smoldering DUMB AZZ ****** - go get OJ's trophy....
oh wait - somebody already did that and the mofo tried to get it back...hence his CURRENT jail term. At least Reggie is still pulling a check!!!

Hey a trophy is a trophy, but the last thing he wants right now is to be sitting there in one of those post done-deed-gone-horribly-wrong self-induced funks thinking, "Dayum! I should have just paid the guy off and been done with it...Why didn't I just take care of that dude first?!"
