i didn't bring my workout clothes b/c i have some running to do at lunch.  i WILL be doing some type of cardio this evening tho.  what say you?  what's your plan for the day??

Will be burning up the stair mill tonight.  Shooting for sustained heart rate of 145 bpm or higher for 40 mins.

echo...do you use some device to get an "actual" bpm...or is it a "theoretical" bpm???

I use the built in pulse monitor on the hand grip of the stair mill.  But I do need to buy a personal pulse monitor because I'm not sure how accurate those monitors on the machines are.

Hey MrBirdman!  Although the question is for MrEcho I'm butting in with an answer. 

I have a heart monitor watch by Sportline.  Just press a finger to the button and you get your actual heart rate.  You can measure and save your resting heart rate and input your desired minimum and maximum zone during a workout. 

It will beep to let you know if you are within or outside of your zone so you don't have to read the watch while exercising.  There are other features too but I'm clueless about them. 

Check out amazon.com.  You'll find dozens of brands and price points.  Mine is a reaonably priced model but it was a gift so I don't know the exact cost.  I'd guess no more than $50.
