Oh no doubt.  I'm sure that a lot of black actors/actresses have turned down demeaning or stereotypical roles in Hollywood, but for every one that turned those types of roles down on principle 2 or 3 will take it due to pure greed or need for "career exposure."  Rather than relying on Hollywood to allow us or permit us what to make reflecting ourselves, why not have a few wealthy so-called black moguls create their own MGM or Paramount?

why not have a few Black moguls?

cause for every mofo that went to see Ali or Malcolm X...... there's 6 to 10 more that went to see Lottery Ticket.

can't be a mogul if you ain't pulling mogul $$

Yeah that's true.... we need Oprah, Bill Cosby and the like to support or produce a few more movies with predominately black casts. Most of the ones they get behind...show us in a more positive light or are more true to life.

Lottery Ticket looked like Soul Plane 2010 just by the commercials alone to me.    I knew in a heartbeat that I was definitely going to avoid that movie.  What I can't understand though is with so much talent (black, white, etc...) and money in Hollywood the best that they can give us is this kinda garbage?!  This is ridiculous.
The problem is that these types of movie have an audience and therefore are money makers... Unfortunately for me...I bank rolled it a little by my attendance  this past weekend. Never again will I go see a movie without thoroughly checking out the reviews and getting some solid feed back.

That's true.  My quick fix solution is give us better choice and show us that there are better quality stories than just this kind of send up of blacks in blackface dancing a jig or acting the fool.  But the biggest problem with that is that WE can't agree on what is quality.

Erik and I saw that last weekend and it was NOT good, he thought it was funny, but I was waiting for a better story line and it did not happen! The only thing I thought was funny was when they were in church and that guy (comedian) forget his name was funny when he talking about how bad he needed money, that was funny.

I also found the movie to be a little bit of exploitation of blacks, there are MANY blacks that have never been to a project or know how blacks in the projects live....as if all blacks from the projects are savages...what about white trailer trash..lol, I think all ethic groups have their own set of poor people that are exploited to some degree...just because you are poor does not mean you are stupid and just becasue you are rich does not mean you well educated.

yeah.....it would have been a little funny if they had spread all that ignorance around to all ethnicities and threw a few ignorant rich folks in the mix too...maybe it would have been tolerable.

@ .just because you are poor does not mean you are stupid and just becasue you are rich does not mean you well educated.

I just knew that was going to be a stupid, embarrassing movie.  Okay??!! Could he not have thrown a trailer park scene in there somewhere?? I mean, if you're gonna be straight out stupid..you might as well not discriminate on top of it.

Love is all there is, ever was or ever will be...
