yes I agree that not everyone feels that need but unfortunately the people that do raise a whole lotta hell!!  That basically makes equality completely subjective.  It will never be a uniform concept or standard, so instead of being held to someone else's standard, I'd rather be free to act on my own steam.  As they say..."It is easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission"

Show you right!!!  Okay......now that about put it all in a nut shell for where we live today....The Utopia I was speaking of is most definitely a nice thought BUT I doubt I'll see it before I die....well...than again...never thought I would see a black man in the white house. I think one miracle is all I will see in my lifetime....

You know....that's a tough one....I was about to post this reply........

****e Kinte ponders........."Let's see..........would I prefer to be FREE or have the same or "equal" amount of toes cut off as the next man on the chopping block?" Freedom massah....I chose Freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!

but then I got to thinking...........what is the price of Freedom and is it truly worth it in the long run and are you ever truly free. We are always going to be bond to some rules or norms so that we are not always necessarily free to act on our own volition...which can be a good thing. Freedom to a certain extent can actually harm society.   For example, I think that Freedom of Speech can be taken way too far some times.

It seems to me that if we are going to look at each word in its true sense than EQUALITY would be the better choice because we all would be on the same footing...have the same advantages/disadvantages and can excel based on what we do with that equality and the choices we make.

I think that equality is a stronger more positive word and can actually birth Freedom and yet Freedom does not necessarily bring about equality.  Most of us are living proof of that based on our day to day struggles.

yes it's quite a conundrum, but I lean towards freedom.  Now I just have to put my argument into 750 characters.

(yes I got in, and girl those muthafuckas admitted me on the LAST DAY of late registration.  I found out ONE HOUR before registration ended.  I can't stand yo' cuzins!!)

Congrats gurl!!! Yes....they can be a pain in the ass... just don't let them play with your money...believe me...they will try. Some of those admin in the front office have napoleon complexes no matter where you are...need to take their asses and sit down in someones class rather than try to front on the students that come in needing assistance. It really burns me when they do that...and then wonder why mofos want to come in there shooting up the place.

Freedom is not something that anybody can be given; Freedom is something that people take and people are as free as they want to be." - James Baldwin

Equality. In a past life, I probably was a runaway slave who already had freedom. Having equality would have been the icing on my cake.

Freedom.  Pretty much for the same reasons already stated.   If equality was respected as a self evident truth then freedom would be an inherent part of equality.  However, we know th real world where humanity is not a result of your being human.  It is subject to countless qualifications depending on who you ask.

Therefore it must be freedom.  With my freedom I can fight for my equality.  Someone else's version of equality will include denying me my freedom.  We've seen it before in separate but equal.
