if you had to choose...
Hands down - Freedom.
Freedom allows you the ability to do what you want, whenever you want to, as long as it's within the guide lines of the law, but it can be taken away from you if you don't stay within those guidelines. To me "Equality" is one of those mystical illusionary terms that we ascribe to things for period in time based on our viewpoint. Terms like "in-crowd", "best friend", and "on sale" are equivolent to equality in my opinon.
I think that there is a such thing as Equality.....it just does not happen as much when it comes to differences in gender, race, socioeconomic status etc.... Which of course is the problem. Get a bunch of old white men in a room with the same amount of money and theres not a problem seeing equality. Throw Rodney King's ass in the mix and then you have issues. If each man could just look at each other as equals... we would have less chaos in this place. I thought thats the direction...we are striving to achieve. I was considering your question as if we were looking for the perfect world .....than which would we chose. I might have misunderstood. In this world as it stands....hell...neither one is a cup of tea.
Hold up!
I didn't say it wasn't real. I was basically saying that it's a mythical concept. It can be defined but it has varying degrees of realness associated with it depending on your point of view. For example, a unicorn can be defined enough for you to know what it is but that doesn't make one exist.

I disagree. They may be the same to you and I but amongst themselves there would then be the question of whether the money is old or new. How diverse is your portfolio? Yes old Farnsworth ****s money, but he's a drunk and his wife is a ***** etc. For some reason human beings have an innate need to "best" one another and comfort themselves with some sense that they're as good as or better than someone else. It's like the 1/2 full half empty argument...all depends on how thirsty you are.

It is never too late to be what you might have been

I can agree with that............. Would you agree that NOT everyone has that innate instinct to want to "best" every one around them. Not to say that they aren't competitive but there are people who compete against themselves...challenge themselves without considering what the next man might have. Some can look for the common good and still be happy for the next man without feeling incompetent or less than because the next man has more or worse yet...judge his fellow man. I know...people like this are a minority (MLK, Ghandi, Mother Theresa....and those on the lower echelon with similar character traits and Yes...its about survival of the fittest BUT if we rally around each other more as a species instead of being so separatist (ie. race, gender, socioeconomic etc..) I think....we would all have more....or be more equal.
Unfortunately...wishing that we could bottle that character trait for everyone to consume is only wishful thinking.
