She's like a sister.  Been slender but not skinny all of her life.  Has done some modeling.  She wore a size four when they were specialty sizes because they were in a range just a little bigger than childrens clothes.  In her fifties she's still the size we've all been working to be.

This sister of mine never questioned my decision for wls like so many skinny chicks would.  She took my before pics and took me to the hospital the morning of my rny.  Then she slept in my room until I was discharged the next day.

She took me home with her so she could watch over me the first twenty four hours although I needed no assistance.  She confiscated my house keys in front of the surgeon.

Well her niece sent her some cute new clothes that she gave to me.  They are too snug on her but on me they are a loose easy fit.  I never in a million years thought I would reach her size much less a smaller size.

What's even better?  No attitude, jealousy, bitternes.  She is who she is and still happy at the size she is.  I am happy at my size and she's happy that I'm happy.   Now just how  special is that?

That's special that's true friendship and sisterhood!

My BFF of over 20 years has surprised me.  She calls less and we do less things together the smaller I get.......She only comments on my size when someone else does but, she stares at me constantly when she is with me.  She is not obese by a long shot just overweight; we have done every diet together over the years and we get openly envious of one another if one of use loses much more weight than the other. BUT this WLS has thrown her for a loop......... for the 1st time in our friendship she is larger than me.  I have some wonderful suits that have been worn once or twice that I would love to give her but I know she would be offended (in the past she would have loved having them)

I guess things may be different with a sister who has never been overweight and has always been confortable in her skinny skin LOL  You are blessed

Thanks for sharing and congratulations. One could only ask for someone in their lives like this! I too have had too many friends back away from their relationships from me because of my transformation. It makes you truly realize how one's fat plays a role in any relationship in your life. I'm glad to be rid of the toxins of 150 extra pounds, and of toxic friendships as well... and at the same time, drawing those close to me who've been there every step of the way, celebrating, honoring, and encouraging me.

Girl that is truly special!!!! Thanks for sharing!! I think that was one of my fears, getting smaller than my sister.  But reading this I know my sister would be the same way.  She is obese but my 1st year out she gave me a lot of clothes of hers that she did not want and that I could now wear.  The clothes her an my Mom gave me saved me money while I was still losing weight.  Even though I got smaller, my weight was never below hers.  She is about 280 but since I am 6 ft tall Even at 302 (my smallest weight after RNY) I look smaller.

I am so grateful for my sister's undying support in this whole process and the fact that she is not jealeous, etc, etc.  It is truly special and a blessing for sure.  So many siblings do not have these very special relationship.

So yes it is very nice to see that others have a very loving and special relationship with thier sister.  SISTER 2 SISTER......:-) Again, thanks for sharing this!

I don't have a sister (4 brothers) and my BFF is also having issues with my weight loss. She is morbidly obese but in denial. She criticized my new eating habits and I felt like she was trying to sabotage my journey. The girl tried to get me to eat breads (McD's grilled chicken sandwich) 4 mos out even after I told her I would get sick. All I wanted was a little piece of the grilled chicken to get my protein in. Who does that? That was 2/10 I haven't seen her since and everytime I try to invite her out somewhere she has something else to do. This surgery is about change in your health & lifestyle so people may leave you because they were comfortable with you being fat and miserable.  and this surgery changes that.

Anyways, I'm so happy that you have someone like a sister that loves you just as much as you love her and is there for you regardless of what decisions you make for your health.  Continue to Cheri****

When you can say without doubt that you have a true friend, it's a beautiful thing.  I can tell from your post that you don't take her for granted.

I'm happy for both of you.
