I know its not body fat but I'm still pissed off.  Yeah, yeah, my screen name should be "Resident Whiner".     I am up 20 lbs due to edema and my knees are so big I can't get my pants on.  Plus I'm eating like food is going out of style.  Thankfully I've been holding it to mainly protein and veg.

I can just call this week a bust.  Doing my best to stick to plan but ignoring my body's response is as good as it will get.  These meds are working me over.     Being there is less of me now, I can really see the deformity edema causes.  I've picked up 2" on each: calfs, ankles, thighs.  And even more on my knees but I don't keep measurements for this area.

Thankfully I have not yet purged the next size up from my wardrobe or I'd be naked out here.  My knee, ankle, and calf measurements came down a little overnight, but I still can't get my pants all the way up.  I get wedged in like an over stuffed sausage.

Today's plan is to stick with the dense protein to
stay full; load the liquids; increase the supps that help move fluids out like potassium and calcium; avoid sodium; add low sodium electrolytes; elevate my legs as much as possible; and try every simple natural edema treatment I can find.

Today is a new day! I gained 4 pounds and now I am down 2. Lovely. I need to stay on track. Today my goal is to jog two miles on the TM and maybe walk one on an incline. Do 45 mins of tae bo in the evening. I want to drink 64 ozs of water. Take all my vitamins before 10pm. I want to consume 1,000 to 1,200 calories - mostly protein, veggies, and fruit. I see some people eat only 900 cal. a day, so what I eat must be way out of bounds. I am going to continue to take it one day at a time. Holding myself accountable...I have still been drinking wine, but it is less and less. I told my DH to stop buying it. He doesn't realize how serious of a problem I can develop. He says its only wine. I don't crave it until I see it in the fridge. I also had a double cheeseburger from MDs (only half the bun, and a yogurt parfait)..that was a lot in one sitting. I end up having a light dinner. Since I had enough protein I had some cabbage for dinner. Today is a new day. I am going to take it one day at a time and get it together. I am working on it. Now time to get up and go get my exercise on. Have a beautiful and wonderful day.

Long term low calorie diets even post op may not be your best bet  as it can slow your metabolism.  1000-1200 calories is not unreasonable and probably necessary if you exercise.  Starvation response is real and can trip you up if you don't eat enough.

Calculate your calorie deficit daily including alcohol consumed and exercise burn.  This way you have a realistic guide to how much you really should be eating to loose.  You will also learn if your metabolism allows for more or if you need to cut back.

Good luck with the wine.  Those calories can add up fast.  Putting them in writing could be a deterrent.
