Pain after eating / drinking

Can someone please help!  I'm about 2weeks and 2days postop (RNY).  For the past week everytime I eat or drink something (including plain water) I have intense abdominal pain.  It's gotten to the point where I'm doubled over and in tears - which is HIGHLY abnormal for me. I spoke to my doctor's ofc yesterday who scheduled an appt for friday and asked that I keep a food journal.  However, last night was so terrible I was sent to the er by my dr's oncall phys.  They took an abdominal series and did not find any blockages or anything.

Has anyone experienced this an can tell me what might be happening to me?  I only took in 1/4Cup of food yesterday and (MAYBE) 4oz of water.  I know I can't continue on like this....

Sincerely,

Neke

Thanks so much for your prayers Debora!  It really means a lot.  I haven't eaten / drank anything today bc hubby went to work today and I don't know how I'll react.

BTW how are you feeling?  My prayers are still with you for a full recovery!!

my surgery is tomorrow but looking at my post op instruction he says if pain is there after you start eating food revert back to soft and creamy foods till able to tolerate more solid food, do tis for another week, next cut down the amount in half

Congrats on your surgery Bridgett!  The issue with that is I am eating soft, creamy, pureed foods.  Last time I tried to eat was a not even 1/4th of a BABY SPOON and it just set me off!!  I don't know what is going on.

You are probably eating and drinking too fast and too much!!

My surgeon told me to think of my pouch (in the beginning) as a clogged up sink and water is trying to get through.  Only a little bit at a time.

Sip, sip, sip and be sure to chew your food until it is the consistency of baby food.

Listen, you are very early out.  It took me 2 months to be able to get in a decent amount of water and food.  Stay hydrated and take your vitamins.  You will be fine.

All the best.

Thanks Cookie!  But I doubt if I'm drinking too fast and too much. I guess I'll ride it out and keep praying that the pain goes away.  When did you stop taking pain killers?

I'll try my best to stay hydrated.

Thank you again and much success on your WL.  Your posts are inspirational.

I thought  the same thing.  I challenge you to try drinking even slower and smaller sips.  Do the same with food.

I had the issue where I couldnt drink plain water after the surgery. It caused alot of abdominal pain for me (which I still have occasionally). So i acutally do the sugar free packets or a lemon in my water and it has been better for me..  I also found out that it very common. So check that out to..

However good luck and things will get better!!

Blessed beyond measure!
