Congrats on your surgery. I hope you best in recovery. People always have something to say, so I wouldnt worry about f riends/family. If they dont like your decision so what, they just need to respect it.  But I know that it hurts when you feel like the closest people in your life aren't supporting you but the only support you need is you & theres always OH.
