Hey Ang,

Surprisingly, the guys used to call me fat too.  They wasn't admitting to liking thick girls when I was in school.

Did you start it on your own or did someone tell you to go on a diet?

I started it.   By that time,  my weight was causing "lack of self esteem" issues.

My first real diet was at 9. I remember going to the doctor and weighing about 125 and everything after that is history. I have been piggy backing on every diet my mother has done up to the age of 15 . I have always lost weight but I was very stubborn with keeping it off.

Good question!I can remember being 6 years old and being dragged to a nutritionist at the local hoapital because I was a chubby kid.  That was the beginning of yo yo dieting for me.  I have to admit when I look back at pics of myself I was a pleasingly plump little kid, not grossly fat.  I really wish my parents had never begun to make such an issue of my weight and just encouraged me to be more active.

Yes. I agree. 6 was a bit too young to get you starting to diet. More running and jumping would have been an easier solution for you.

Thanks for sharing.

Good Question Angie!
The elementary and high schools I attended were predominately Caucasian with a hand-full of blacks therefore I always had a body image that did not fit my body structure and genes.  I was slightly plump in elementary school and continued to gain weight in high school.

During my  H.S. years I was 5'0" and about 130-140 lbs (I can't wait to see 130 again!) I went along with the crowd in HS and took diet pills and dieted with my friends I lost weight (down to 120) but never kept it off but I dieted off and on from age 14 through adulthood. I can't believe my goal weight back then was 110.................. Yo-Yo dieting is evil!!!!!!!!!!!!  A poor body image can be a biotch.

Change is a Process Not an Event

Its amazing how our environment can influence our body image. Whether it is bad or good.
