Survey-How old were you when you started your first diet?

I was in high school. I always had big thighs like a swimmer/runner/gymnast. I always got comments on how big my legs were, and instead of taking it as a compliment, I took it as an insult.

I was about 15-16 when I begged my dad to take me to the doctor to lose weight. He thought I was nuts, but he knew the doctor would agree with him that I did not have to lose weight.

I had a white female dietitian assigned to me. I was 135lbs and 5 ft 6 in tall. She said I need to lose 20lbs, because I, indeed, was overweight.

I lost the 20 lbs. I was ridiculed by my friends for losing so much weight. I was called an anorexic and a bobble head. And this was the start of my yo yo dieting.

Looking back I was comfortable at 135lbs and I should have listened to my dad, but so goes life.

So, how old were you when you first started dieting?

how did you losse 20lbs as a teen?  how long did it take you?  i started dieting at about 11 yrs old and was NEVER successful.  I was too ashamed to tell anyone i was dieting and guess that was half the problem.  been dieting ever since...

I was always athletic and always moving. My goal was to lose 2 lbs a week, on a 1200 calorie a day diet and I was pretty much on target. It took me about 3 months to lose the required weight. Not saying that I wasn't hungry all the time and dreaming and thinking about food every hour, but I did it.

My family was very weight conscience too, so that made me even more determined to succeed. But after my first year in college, that is when it started getting harder and harder to lose the weight with just dieting.

  Hey Ang .. nice post,
I knew nothing of diet or exercising ...... then when I was about 17 yrs old I got a summer job about a mile away from my home.  I walked to work every morning / and home in the evening and because I worked with old white ladies (who I had nothing in common with) I was bored and would walk back home for lunch and back to work again. That's about 4 miles a day.

I weighed about 145 @ 5'7&1/2" all of a sudden my pants were too long and falling down my blouses and everything else were too big but I didn't have a clue (why).  I didn't know that I had lost weight.  I was complaining about my clothes being too big but nobody in my household seemed to notice.

One day while walking home I passed the house of a friend of my grandmother who knew me quite well.  I said ..... Hi Miss Ada and she looked puzzle and said baby who you?  I thought she had lost it and said slowly ........ Joyce ... Ms Jessie's granddaughter?  She grabbed the sides of her face and said, J-o-y-c-e? ..... Lawd, honey has that been you passing by here everyday?  Walkin' like that no wonder you so po'.  I didn't know who in the world you were, tell your grandma I said Hi and to make you eat more!

Where nobody had mentioned it before all of a sudden everybody began to ask what was wrong with me and tell me I was too little, was I sick.  I guess I had lost about 20lbs. but 125 lbs is way to small for my build.  I don't remember my weight ever being a topic of conversation before that point.

I was so impressed that walking could make you lose weight and change your appearance
to the point that people wouldn't recognize you I played around with exercise and diet every summer.  When I married and had my first child (@ 22) the game continued but didn't work so good after 28 or so.  I put on weight very slowly and became increasingly unable to take it off.  But my weight did not skyrocket and get totally out of hand until I reached 31 yrs old. I wished I would have just left well enough alone.  Wow, this is bringing back so many memories.

I like this post Angie you ought to post more often and give us something to think about

Hey Meso!

I thought about doing something like this a while back, but I never went thru with it. I could ask some really serious, deep questions and most people do not like it when I get that serious. lol!

But isn't it amazing how young and dumb we really were? I would give anything to be 135-150lbs again.

Those were the days!

i can remember my mom making me do the grapefruit diet in 5th or 6th grade for 2 weeks. Of course she also had me in every gymnastics, soccer, and tap known to man..but that was irrelevant.  By the end of the 2 weeks Id figured out that half a cup of sugar per half made grapefruits tolerable.  My mom made me go to my first weigh****chers meeting in the 7th grade I think.  I HATED them...all stinky old sad fat ladies crying all over the place....but we'd stop and get a cherry icee on the way home so there was a payoff.

I could go on but thats the first one I remember
You can either stop dreaming and face reality or keep dreaming & create your reality.

Hey MrsRony.

Do you remember how much you weighed at that time and how tall you were?

As a freshman in HS I weighed in @ a whopping 155 pounds.  I was a size 12 and everyone said I was fat.  I wore a bigger size than all of my friends.  They were sharing cloths and I was never able to fit into any of their cloths.  So I started dieting.  By the time I turned 16, I was 165 pounds from dieting.  I always had thick thighs and a big ole butt and I always had to buy cloths that was one size bigger to fit my butt.  My cloths always fit in the butt and thighs, but never in the waist.  I realized later in life that was the start of my downfall.  OMgoodness, what I would do to be back at 155-165lbs.

In my opinion Beachbody has THE very best weight loss products around.  Would you like to join me on my P90X Journey? Please click the link below to Join My Team or to learn more about the products:

I always hated girls like you cuz you were 'thick' and that's the way the guys wanted their girls. The tip off was if their pants fit everywhere else but in the waist. LOL!

I was thick, but I wasn't big booty thick.
