A Humbling moment; Piggy back on the 16 post.......
I bought 2 swimdresses and a dinner dress yesterday - I was determined to find something I liked, no LOVED for my trip...... spent my lunch hour in JC Penny furiously trying on everything labeled 12 and 14 misses........
After 45 frustrating minutes of HELL (I think swimwear is evil) I hadn't found a thing - then passed the women's rack, you know... the BIG GIRLS rack.... least, that's what it's thought of, right? Saw the CUTEST swimdress style that i knew would be right for me, peeked at the size, then passed them up ......
16
I just knew in my head that wasn't gonna work - I'm SMALLER than that! queue up another 20min and I passed them again - pulled one off and held it to me - it looked like I might have a shot.... to the dressing room and MAGIC..... perfect fit.
Leaving the dressing room, the 50% off dress rack just HAPPENED to be right there (evil azz employees set me up) and the most beautiful 3/4 length halter dress was hanging there. Orange as the base color with a purple tie dye kind of design, beading embellishments.... GORGEOUS! I peek the tag........
16
I held it up - looked like it would work - tried it on - like a glove...... it will be a hit on my trip......
Now - yesterday I decided I would simply row my azz down the river of Denial and forget that the size is a 16 - that I have 12s from NY and CO, so that must be a mistake, how could I have blown UP to a 16???!!!!!!!
Then - I read the post about rocking a 16 - she's come down from the high 20's - and I have to remember that I used to wear 30/32s and some of those were tight...... that black and brown were the only colors I felt okay in, and that I never showed any skin off my legs - full length pants were the only choice I'd allow.
So - I am humbled. I am nit picking and insisting on losing, but I've come a long, long, long way - and like her, I need to take a moment and ROCK IT - cause I fought hard and EARNED this ish, baby - like working a minimum wage job and going to school full time - I put in my time - I'm taking out my change!!!!!
Don't get it too twisted - I am not going to get off track - by no means - but this ain't the worst I've ever been - and dammit - for this trip - Imma let that ish go and enjoy!!!!
that is all - back to your normal programming - management thanks you for taking time to listen to this long azz rant about nothing in particular.......

Now you know I am totally neurotic about the numbers. Drag her @$$ off in a straight jacket damned near psycho neurotic.
Even so, I have a five size range in my closet. (No I am not telling what the range is cause folks keep threatening to slap the neuroticism (Is that a word?) out of me.)
I still do worry about the numbers and there is a size I will not pass no matter how much I like it. I won't even try it on. I'll leave with nothing first. Yes I am a damned psycho when it comes to the numbers.

i heard about this site on a news program...tested it out and felt so much better about my measurements (which of course is the driving force behind the varying sizes by various designers).
it takes a while to go through the entire measuring process and you may need a little helper. however, it'll show you what looks best for your body type and tell you what size a particular item is (when you add it to the cart) based on your input. mine ranged from 8-12 depending on the designer. for some reason i felt a lot better after doing this...head trip i guess
please note, i didn't buy a dayum thing...that ish was high as heyll!!! lol

I am definitely feeling this post. I was in a size 28 or better now 14/16W. I have came a long way in seventeen months and I have a long way to go. I will get there I just have to keep up the good habits I have developed and leave the old ones in the past. I am proud of how far we have came and you are a inspiration to me.

JCP's size 16 is probably really a 14 in disguise because of the type of fabric they use. Either way it's all still under 18.
Sounds really pretty!!!!!

Well I am 8 years out (time flies...you know the rest) and I am a size queen. I wear a 14 and I still have 16s in my closet from my 2008 slip. And I tell ya I feel different in a 16 than a 14.
The other day I put on this short little denim skirt that has been in my closet (I ain't eva been shy abt showing my legs...they go all the way to my neck! Plus they turn on a certain unmentionable man, however I digress) and I was straight smellin myself when something told me to check the tag...it was my 16. Long story short, I have that mini in 4 colors and 3 sizes (yes there is an 18 in there...2008 was a bytch, however I wish I had seen 2010 coming) I rocked that 14 like I was a model. It's a shame but I obsess (as MM knows) about that kind of stuff.
And yes I wouldn't go back to my 30/32s for nothing in the world but I am so shooting for a 6/8 sometime in my life.
