Depression & WLS

I have the most dumbest pouch in the world.  From the beginning when I was able to eat solid foods, I was able to eat as much as I want without feeling full.  I was also able to eat as much sugar without dumping.  However, as far as vitamins and meds in pill form..NO GO!!!!

For a very long time, I was taking the same medication for depression after my wls and it was in pill form.  And for a very long time I was severely depressed and didn't understand why.  I finally figured out that my pouch DID NOT absorb pills very good.  It was only after I changed to liquid form medication I was able to get my depression under control.

So if you were taking meds before you got wls and feel as though they are not working, ask your doctor for it in liquid form and see if it works for you.  It was the best thing that ever happened to me.

God put that on my heart today and I just felt that I should share.

I pray God's blessing one your journey.

Grace & Peace

Lee, c'mon now, you know I am still the resident crazy lady.  Dont try and take that title from me.

Depression is serious and a lot of people dont want to admit they have it or ever experience it.  But I am so glad that God had helped me to come to grips with it.

I know this will help others.

I am happy for you Treena. I am like Lee and suffer from depression but don't medicate.  Today my treatment will be running for a couple miles and seeing what that gets me.

God Bless

Hey Shay,

How are you girly?  When you have clinical depression, exercise only helps to a certain extent.  I wish I could exercise and make it go away.  Believe me when I tell you a sistah has tried.  Its no fun living with this, but I know God has me on a mission.

I pray your wls journey is going well.

Take Care,
Treena

Hi Jus C..........I'm happy that you found a resolution to your issue.  Depression is a serious disease that effects the whole family.  My daughter has suffered from it for years and has to take meds to control it.  It's not a good place when you're off balance and haven't gotten those meds at the right levels and combinations.  Those mood swings are hell.  And I suffer myself on a moderate level also, but have not sought meds for it.  Blessings to you.

Hi J,

Yes, it is a serious disease and it does effect the entire family.  I thank God everyday for the great support system I have.  And it sounds like you are supporting your daughter.  That is so important.  I will not even touch on those mood swings.  I will just say, I really thank my family for understanding because its no joke.

Take care,

Treena

Hey Treena

I used to suffer from mild depression before wls but I know

that no where near compares to real clinical depression.  My

heart goes out to you dealing with that.

My mom suffered from clinical depression all of her life and

it did affect her ability to parent.  Fortunately, she did have

a fairly decent support system for that era because you know

many years ago there wasn't the knowledge about clinical

depression that there is now.  Most people didn't understand her

and it was easier to just look away.  So I saw her suffer quite a bit

but I was too young to help her.

Thank God you have found something that is working for you and I wish you

continued blessings on your journey.
