Angel duty but not a good report!!!
OUR FRIEND SWEET AND SIMPLE DENISE "STARLA" KING
PASSED AWAY ON SATURDAY.
IT IS NOT SURE WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED BUT SHE HAD COMPLICATIONS BREATHING ON SATURDAY AND WENT TO THE HOSPITAL SEVERAL TIMES.
I MET HER HERE AND WE BECAME FRIENDS. I TRIED TO ENCOURAGE HER TO HAVE THE SURGERY AND SHE TOLD US AT THE MEET N GREET IN 08 IN HOUSTON THAT SHE WOULD... BUT SHE NEVER DID.
SHE CONTACTED ME IN APRIL AND TOLD ME MY SURGEON WAS BACK IN TOWN AND WAS INTERESTING IN GOING TO THE ATL MEET AND GREET .
SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE HAD GONE THROUGH ALL THE STEP FOR WLS AND ONCE AGAIN CHICKENED OUT.
STARLA HAD DIABETES HER SUGAR LEVEL WAS ALWAYS IN THE 400'S AND i TOLD HER HOW IT WOULD CHANGE, HYPERTENSION AS WELL.
THIS SADDENS ME BECAUSE SHE WAS A BEAUTIFUL GIVING WOMAN WITH A LOT OF ENERGY...SHE AMAZED ME HOW WELL SHE COULD FUNCTION AND MOVE...NEVER SAYING SHE WAS TIRED. She had 3 children 2 adult children and a 10 yr old.
SHE ALWAYS CONTACTED ME BY EMAIL AND SHE LEFT ME A MSG ON THE BACKLINE HERE AND IT SAID .....
" YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE MY ANGEL....I NEED YOU......
I replied but never heard back from her....I found out about her passing away by a facebood message sent to me by her cousin in law...she called me and I talked with her.
Starla was very loving.....
This is a wake up call to me and should be to anyone that is playing Russian Roulette with their health...STOP IT Before it is too late.
I wanted to share this with you all.
REST IN PEACE STARLA YOU WILL BE MISSED.

Diane I am saddened to hear this. She sounds like a fantastic woman - gone to soon. I'm totally sure that YOU did help her. I know you did encourage her and you made a difference. The final choices were hers alone to make. Loss like this is always hard to take.
My prayers go up for her family and for you my sister. Sending you love and hugs. Continue to be faithful and strong!!

I am so sad to hear this.....She truly was a "sweet" lady. I remember meeting her at the Texas Meet and Greet and oh how infectious she was. So very funny and oh so out going. Me and my husband sat next to her and she kept us laughing!!!! :-)
She posted on BAF almost 2 weeks ago looking for Hey Big Girl. I almost posted back to her and now in hind sight, I wish I had.
My deepest sympathy to her family and friends and to you Di. This is a wake up call for us all.
May God rest Starla's soul. She indeed was a special person.
I am praying for your strength in this Di. I know God is able.
