Shake it up.  If this has been your routine, your body is normalizing.......

What other exercising besides walking are you doing?  Add something else like weights or some resistance training - that will confuse your body and kick off some weight loss

What vitamins are you taking?  Sometimes a deficiency can make your body retain weight or lose slower

Your food intake looks pretty alright - I would suggest shaking that up a little too and maybe eat in the first part of the day and do the shake for dinner.  With your 'tenure' - it's more than likely just your body adjusting and trying to find ways to hold on to the weight - not that you're doing anything way wrong and you are NOT a failure!!!!!

...... umm - don't open the vets regain thread, m'kay?  Cause if you think YOU'RE upset and depressed...... let's just say we ain't gonna be NO HELP........

Wow! You have failed and have lost 58 pounds in only 4 months!, when did you hear of anyone else losing that much weight that quick and considered themselves a failure?  I am not a pro on RNY but those in my doctors office lost about the same rate as I did and lost about 100 pounds in a year or less and NOT 5 to 6 months some do depeding on their metabolisms, I don't believe that is healthy, you don't' want to look like a chicken or scarecrow once you get to goal you want to look healthy and not like a cancer patient (excuse my point) but you don't want to look sick....and those who lose at really fast rate have a lot of horrible lose skin, so you may want to set back and rejoice of what you have lost thus far and continue to exercise and do what you are doing, I believe a lot of people have Plataea also your body will start back losing.

Good luck

1. You have not failed.  As long as you are alive and breathing you can do this.  If you are determined you will do this.

2. Everyone does not loose quickly.  I had only 97.5 lbs to loose.  At 16 months out I have not made it to goal yet.  It took me 135 dats to loose the first 50lbs.  I loose at a slow rate just like you do.

I cannot evaluate your food because no matter what I do I cannot kick start my weight loss even as a honeymooner.  However, you do eat more than I do at a single meal.  For lunch, is that two 3oz chicken breasts, 6oz total?  That's a lot.  Even now a 4oz burger patty is a stretch for me.  I did not notice which surgery you had so perhaps you have a larger stomach.

My suggestion to you is to track your food and exercise so you know your calorie deficit.  It serves two purposes.  First, you will learn if you are only fooling yourself.  Dilligent tracking will put your mistakes in your face.  Second, if you are eating correctly you have something to take to your doctor and nutritionist so they may critique and determine if the problem is dietary or metabolic.

My second suggestion is up the ante on your exercise.  At overr four months out and over fifty pounds down, you can do more than walk.  If you don't like the gym start a dvd collection and buy a set of inexpensive free weights.  You can find many workouts online and in magazines.   Body building and military physical training related sites are good sources.  Just do a search and browse.  There are even routines out there that require zero equipment/ dvd's.  Nothing to buy.

Be 100% honest with yourself about your performance.  If you are doing the right things, lean on your health care team to find out what is wrong.  You may have to experiment with your diet plan to find what works for you.

YOU WILL DO THIS.  Its too late to turn back.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!!

I had my surgery around the same time that you have and have lost 55lbs since surgery.  I am not a failure at this!  I am also not upset about it either.  I know that people lose differently than others.  As long as I am still losing and not gaining then I am fine. I would not worry too much about what your Dr . says as they don't always know peoples chemical makeup. I would not compare yourself to what others are doing either.  If you worry about the numbers too much you will drive yourself crazy.  I am looking at how a feel.  I am wearing anything from a 12 to a 16 which is great considering I was up to 22/24 and I am wearing large tops vs 2X.  I love me for once in my life and I love my RNY and I know that this was the best decision that I have ever made for myself.

You are doing fine just keep up the good work and it will come off. Stay focused on your goals and make good food choices.

YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE!!!!!!!!

Your surgeon told you what????? I think you are doing great. Like MM says change it up a bit and throw your body into shock. You are doing great so keep up the good work. Are you eating this every day? Is this your daily menu if so change it our body is getting use to the same thing over and over? I would say at your snack time do protein shakes. How many carbs are in the Atkins shakes?

Thanks everyone for your replies!  I had the Rny 02/12/10- My starting weight was 306.  I do take my vitiams daily.  I am really confused on what to eat.  My Nut told me my last visits that I wasnt eating enough.  Atkin shakes has 3 carbs in them and 15 protein.  My Nut urged me not to count carbs and eat about 1000 calories oer day and get in 60-70 grms of protein daily.  That being said some mornings I have 1c of Special K cereral with1/2 of fat free milk, I do try to switch up.  I havnt joined a gym as of yet because I cant afford it right now.  I will try some of the at home exercises because I do have them.  If you guys would post your daily menus I would greatly appreciate it....  My doctor said with my height 5"3 i should get down to 135, which I dont agree my goal is 180 which mean i need to loose about 70 pounds, if God grants me with that I am fine... Be blessed and thanks!

A lot depends on your build and percent muscle mass.  I'm 5'2" and my weight today is 155.  I wear medium size clothes.

My pre op BMI was 51.   By 4 months out, I had lost 61 pounds.

This planner was very accurate in helping me to estimate how fast the weight would come off:
