In Response To Mz Cookie's Thread Yesterday About Trying To Maintain

I started a new thread because sometimes posts get lost in the shuffle. I've been reading a book called, "It Ain't Over 'til The Thin Lady Sings" by Michelle Ritchie, CSAC, ICRC. She is a certified substance abuse counselor, health educator and a weight management counselor AND she had a RNY gastric bypass. She got some of her degrees after her surgery.

I've been struggling with food choice and cravings. I agree with #1 Mack Mama about using a sleep aid because if I don't, I'll be eating a pb&j sandwich at 2 am. I also have woken up the next morning with half eaten food in my bed because I apparently ate during the night. I'm supposed to use a cpap machine but I just can't use that. So I use ambien.

This book explores Amino Acid therapy for cravings, sleep, metabolism, energy, relaxation, stress. I have studied these before surgery due to my fibromyalgia and  wanted to use a natural remedies. I got off track due to other illnesses. Please remember I'm not a dr. or nurse. I have a degree in health and human performance and had a degree to teach health and nutrition but I graduated from college in 1990 !!!!

Check with your dr. because these may interfere with your rx meds and you may only need 1 or none or all of these because of your body chemistry. This info was taken from a book  called the Diet Cure by Julia Ross.

The main Amino Acids are:
Gaba: 100-500mg
L-Tyrosine: 500-1500 mgs
DLPA: 500-1500 mgs
L-Tryptophan: 50-150mgs
Melotonin: 500-1500 mgs
L-Glutamine 500-1500 mgs

These are usually taken 1-3 times daily . You need to google what they are for because not everyone needs everything. I would suggest talking with your pcp first and then starting on one at a time and seeing if it makes a different before wasting money and buying alot of stuff that may not help and you may not need. Some people may need a thyroid panel first.

Sorry so long but I know some people may just see weightloss and energy and amino acids and go buy them and not read the warnings.

I am a fan of Melantonin, it does wonders for a restful nights sleep.

My past and present positions does not define me as to who I am;
But, they are mere stepping-stones that will lead me t
o who I am to become.
