Ferndale woman suing after she fell asleep on plane

A woman from Ferndale, Mich. is suing United Airlines after she was left alone on a plane for hours after it had landed.

Ginger McGuire was aboard a United Express flight from Washington, DC to Philadelphia. She says she fell asleep during the flight. It landed shortly after midnight Tuesday but no one woke her up until a cleaning crew found her four hours later.

United Airlines says they are working with a regional partner carrier to determine why the plane wasn't cleared upon landing.

McGuire told reporters, "I fell asleep on the plane and next thing you know I wake up, it's 4:00 in the morning. Nobody's on the plane. Nothing."

McGuire has hired Geoffrey Fieger who is filing a lawsuit for false imprisonment, emotional distress and negligence.

I would have been scared as hell waking up alone on a dark ass ariplane

Shioot....girl...I would have ..took out my cell phone to give me a little light...went up front & found me some cracker or peanuts or something... read the Sky magazine a few times and when I hear them coming...shut my dayum eyes real quick and count my dayum money as it jumped over the fence.....heylll bet that's what she done...LOL!

no harm no foul - heffa was SLEEP!!!! now, woke and bangin on a door and suffocating - one thing - but SLEEP - man please.

she is in charge of her own azz.  What - should she get $$ if she overslept at home and missed the flight?

I know right....she knows dayum good and well...that it was not all that traumatic....BUT...I bet she walks away with a nice little piece of change though. Then to top it all off..there gonna be at least a little stink about airline security....why they did not clear the plane etc...... NOW for real...if that had been my black arse.....they would have woke me up....searched my bags to make sure I did not have any extra peanuts or cookies...and then walked behind me all close to make sure I did not snag any airbags for the black market on the way out...LOL...j/k

I think it's ridiculous.  I'm so sick of this blame everyone but me society we've become.  Unfortunately, Geoffrey WILL get her some money,  and the fact that she hired him shows that she's an opportunistic *****  I always said if I EVER got in trouble or wanted to sue someone I was going straight to his office,  he's no joke.

Yeah you right...the fact that she went for a HIGH powered attorney is a dead giveaway!

It's not like it was a 17-18 hour flight from some remote little village in Mongolia!!  It was from DC to Phila!!  Now, I do think it's common practice for the flight crew to check for any passenger left on a fight after the flight has landed, just in case someone passed out or died in flight without someone knowing it (yes, it's happened) but really...she is a grown ass woman.  You mean she couldn't maintain herself for a 2 hour flight??!!!

LOL....you made me giggle....on the Mongolian Village. Its also funny to a certain degree because its like the airlines are cutting back so dayum much....not only are they making us check our own bags, bring our own lunch but heyl....now ..ask this women....they are making us clear our own asses out the plane.....lol....prolly did not even offer her a pillow..( do they even have those on planes anymore?)....Its like...getting cut throat out here and no body cares anymore about good customer service.

So she fell asleep.  People sleep in transit all the time.  There's no excuse for not making sure that plane was empty.  Its a simple walk through.  Total no brainer.  The flight landed early in the am and the crew wanted to get the hell out of there.  Simple negligence.

Even if she found her way out of an emergency exit she may have created even more trouble for herself.  Imagine lurking around secured areas of an airport in the middle of the night in today's world.  She was likely to get shot as a terrorist.
