Sorry was waylayed with the girls...just now getting back online.  Ok....I agree that this is definitely the squeaky wheel right now...or I prefer to call it a big ass boulder rolling down hill that getting ready to smash our asses to smithereens cuz our feet are stuck in a hole.

I am no economist....lol....I know I might have fooled some of ya'll BUT I am one of those people that believe its most efficient for some of the day to day operational decisions of a Corporation to be made with the input of the front line workers. I like this model cuz they are usually the first ones to see a shioot storm a coming because they are the pulse of the company.  Most times those high up are not only blinded by their own wallets but also by the fact that they simply are not in touch with salient problems in a timely matter.  That's why are love our Pres....he really tries to listen to the cries of the people and not just go by what hes being told on a higher level.

Getting back to BP. Now mind you...I did not know anything about there being a cap..nor had I given the notion of who's going to pay for this mess much thought...cuz like I said...bottom line...its always going to be the taxpayers that pay for it in the end...no matter who shells out the initial dollars....taxpayers will pay now and later.

So...I pondered for a moment.  I figure...if say...they took the cap off and BP ended up having to pay for all the spillage....or if they or the banks ended up bankrupt because there was no bail out.....The Feds would have to approve the bankruptcies anyway....(and I do believe there is a need for more reform in the bankruptcy process too...and not just as it pertains to the little man but corporations too)...so a provision of the bankruptcy could be some expedited relief, no Chapter 7 for negligence (must pay back over time...with persons of leadership having some attachment for the loss) and at least a 50% change in leadership as a mandatory part of the reorganization for said company as one scenario to send that message for poor decision making at that level. Future earnings of the 50% leadership changed over as a result of the reorganizations should be attached too...LOL Heyl..they take the risk to earn millions ..should do something to protect it....i.e. keep their eyes open for raggedy ass equipment, dumb ass employees and overspending.

Heyl...I don't know if it will create a better scenario but I just think there has to be some type of behavior modification put in place so that PREVENTION, whistle blowing etc... is encouraged more. I am putting it in President Obama's hands that he will CHANGE all this shioot around...LOL....poor man.

And to answer your next question...heyl no I am not going into politics to lobby my above plan....

Hmmm - I am hung on your bankruptcy comment.

I filed Chapter 7 at age 22.  Had over 30K in debit - largely due to credit cards I used to buy chit I had no business buying....... for friends and men I thought I could 'woo'.  It was dumb, pointless and I reached a point I had nowhere to run or turn to.

I was in college at the time - so my earnings weren't enough to keep up with all that - and I had my daughter at 23 - no child support ever.  Now, how would I manage to work to pay back 50% (15K) while trying to make the rest of the things in my life work?  I'm just pointing out that bankruptcy for the little man isn't just about negligence or stupidty or greed, and the payback option ain't the best approach either.

I will say that what I think will work WAY better towards avoiding bankruptcies is the new rules in place that require certain ages to have co-signers for credit, and the new guidelines that make it MUCH harder to even qualify.  That, coupled with the new format of statements showing that you'll be on SSN before you pay that mofo off will HELP (not solve) the issue, in my opinion.

As for the front line workers making decisions...... umm...... get ready, cause I know I'll be hit for this one..... but front line workers should have input- but most often don't understand the long range plans/goals.  Now - if there were a way to fully educate and integrate them into the process - then great - but I've found with my OWN workers that they are miopic in their vision and if something doesn't make sense, they stick to whatever they think will ultimately work best for THEM - I've had to make serious and hard decisions on staffing and budget - things they would not have voted for but that they realize now were really for the greater good.

But - I agree with you that Obama is doing great at opening up the floor of opinion and truly taking in the voices that are speaking - which IS a change and IS a good thing.

Well my Chapter 7 comment was definitely not a judgement....I filed Chapter 7 too at a young age.....I let those mofo credit cards jack my ass up too. Heyl...I think accounting or some other course in financial responsibilty should be a mandatory prerequisite on the college level.,,,even should be touched on in HS.

I believe this mess was intentional, don't know why but I just have that feeling. I think that it was one of those intentional things that got out of hand and out of control such as when someone starts a fire and end up setting themself on fire in the process.

Did you check out the report on ABC World News where they played a blurb of the President saying that our oil rigs do not spill just THREE days before this catastrophe? The impact of this will probably continue for the rest of our lifetime. It's scary.

Q.....I honestly agree with you...something just has not set right with me either about this whole ordeal.  Like you said...just a feeling. I will wait to see what comes out.  Probably because....we know that historically...sometime fishy has always been at the back drop of human error catastrophes....

That's right MD, I kept my opinion to myself at the beginning and was surprised after I expressed it as to how many felt the same way. It's to the point of Just how crazy does some people need to become before the world realizes that there are some folks willing to DIE just to make a statement AND I am a STAUNCH believer that we do not fight against flesh and blood, but principalities in high places (I think that's the phrase), everything is NOT human error related.....??????
