Jamaica Tourism is set to take a hit after several countries issues travel advisory following violence in Jamaica. Tourism in Jamaica could take a huge hit according to experts if things are not controlled as quickly as possible.
Violence in the streets of Caribbean nation Jamaica started over the planned extradition of an gang leader to the US. Supporters of the Christopher “Dudus" have set up roadblocks throughout the Kingston city to prevent the arrest. Following the violence Jamaica Government has declared limited state of Emergency. Police and soldiers have come under heavy fire from the coke supporters, which killed 2 police officers.
Following the violence US, England and Canada has issued travel advisories for their nationals asking them to stay away from Jamaica for sometime due to security reasons. However, advisory is not issued for entire country but for a certain area of Kingston city.
Following the violence hotels occupancy fell in Jamaica, several concerned tourists has been calling hotels for update on the situation or for canceling their booking. Leading hotel in Jamaica has reported some cancellation since the violence and fear more to come in the coming days.

Gurl....I was listening to this yesterday and today.... My ex sister in law (sister now)...had just called me the other day to inform me of the arrangements to pick us up from the airport in Mobay . We arrive in a little over 3 weeks. If it were not for the fact that we have family there, I would be apprehensive too. Its always been our behavior though to stay as far away from Kingston as possible any way. That town is rough!!! Little 6-7 year old kids be packing heat in real life NOT just in the movies. There is a lot of drug trafficking and violence there any given day of the week. I only went there once and was paranoid the whole time. Yes this will definitely impact tourism...its a shame because this is, of course,the main stay of that Country! Now....I will be travelling with a hint of paranoia no matter what...but this is not necessarily a bad thing...sometimes we get too comfortable travelling abroad....hummm even travelling in this country now.

Stay out of KINGSTON. That's where the unrest is centered. The neighborhoods where the fugitive to be extradited frequents are determined to protect him. For them he is a hero and philanthropist for the desperately poor. Things will likely get far uglier before its all over.
