You would think since their careers depended on it, they would 'get it'.
Yeah I can see how one would think that but maaaaan... Some folks don't get it because they feel that they are in some sort of elite group or something if they were born skinny or don't have an eating disorder (comfort foods).
A similar thing happened to me when I first approached my first PCP five years ago about WLS. He was thin as a rail from birth and couldn't understand why I wanted to opt for WLS. He was adamant that I do the whole diet & exercise route, so much so until he was pleading with me to just work out more and eat less. Some people just don't get it.

Wow, that sounds familiar. My hubby is AF and I am prior AF. Some of the most negative comments that I have heard have been from them and other military spouses. I think that they resent us for our loss because they have to be hyper-aware about theirs. As for spouses, I have heard worse from the "skinny" ones than the ones who are average or overweight.
They like being the smallest and hate when you start to look like them or smaller, which I think stems from female rivalry I even had one tell me she just knew I was gonna gain all my weight back. I told her hold her breath because I am not going to let naysayers define my journey and my progress. I tell them get over themselves because I certainly am not thinking about them when I am in the gym, I'm thinking about my family and what I can do with them now that I could not before. I will not accept that I must be bigger just because that is the cubby that they selected that I must stay in.
Keep doing you because the sweetest revenge is living well.

I haven't really posted that much because I am still looking into surgery. But one of my good friends started arguing with me that I don't have enough will power to just do it with diet and exercise. That it wasn't because I couldn't do it, I just WON'T do what needs to be done. I told her you have never had a weight problem, you have been skinny all your life, so you have no idea what I am going through.
Anyway I ended it by saying, look you don't have to agree, but I expect you to support me. Period. So far I can tell she wants to say something but she stops herself.
But I just try not to talk with her about it, so I don't get mad.

When someone who has had a bypass such as Becca tries to tell me what not to eat I simply tell them to "MIND YOUR OWN BYPASS,"
Wwhen someone who has not had WLS tries to tell me what to not eat I simply look them square in the eye and say "HAVE YOU HAD A BYPASS" and when they start talking I say it again "HAVE YOU HAD A BYPASS" and that's it, they get the hint to shut the **** up.

The only person who ever gives me unwanted and unwarranted advice is my soon to be ex-husband. He will say THE most stupid stuff like insisting that I eat tuna...ALL THE TIME! Like there is no other food that I can eat besides tuna. He has a severe weight issue and health issues of his own, won't do anything about it, but is knowledgeable enough to tell me what I should be eating!
