Congratulations are in order!!!!
I went to the beauty shop yesterday to get my haircut tightened up and my beautician was talking about her recent loss of 15lbs. She mentioned her only change is that she’s been gardening like a madwoman lately. I told her exercise is key and how I keep my weight off.
She asked me ‘what weight?’ – I then realized I never told her about my WLS. So I explained I used to weigh 386 and had bypass 5 years ago this coming August. She said ‘No way – you don’t look like you’ve ever weighed anything close to that’
…….. what exactly does a formerly fat mofo look like anyway??? Can I get the legend for that?
She then tells me she has two sisters and a cousin who had WLS about 3 years ago and they’ve gained back all the weight – one sister keeps a bag of potato chips by her bed and wakes up in the middle of the night and eats. She told me she was impressed I’m keeping things together – I told her it’s a daily commitment, struggle and fight.
I got to thinking tho – no one on this board (that’s still around) has gained back to surgery weight. Sure we battle our 10-20lb regain demons, I’m in the middle of trying to suffocate my mofo – I’ve shot, stabbed, poisoned and beat the snot out of him, but he won’t die! LOL We battle, but we don’t give up and we don’t let things get too far out of hand.
I say that to say congrats to every one of you who keep coming around, keep checking in and keep focus on what matters in this journey – your HEALTH. Congrats for recognizing your habits and making effort to turn things around. Bigger congrats still for knowing that even when you fall down, you can get back up. And real big props not backing down and letting the lbs creep back in – once them hoes get in the door, it’s hard as HEYL to evict them!
Keep up the good work fam!
We are in it to win it – so far, BAF 1……Fat demons – ZIP!
We know what keeping chips at your bedside does to you physically and the mental issues it demonstates. Because of you long term BAF folks I recognize first, dysfunctional eating patterns; and second, that we are fat for dozens of different reasons. This is not a one size fits all disease.
Yes, congratulations are in order. CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU my BAF Family!

LV'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
Thanks MM for posting this and encouraging us all. It is a struggle. BTW, I have been holding my inner fat girl under water for a while now but the has nine lives!!!!
People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown
But on a serious note, I have seen some recent pictures of SERIOUS (more than 50lbs) weight gain. It saddens me. It's even sadder when denial is present.
I live the struggle daily and it is imperative that we stay on top of our journeys and not let a 10lb gain turn into 100lbs.
