What is your trigger food?

Avoid the foods that do you in.

What, if any, foods trigger negative emotions in you? Do you crave certain foods? Are there foods that make you feel deprived? These foods are the ones to avoid as much as possible.

No one is perfect, but the people who succeed at lasting weight loss are the ones who understand how certain foods negatively affect them and eliminate those foods from their diet. Try to be honest with yourself as you examine your feelings during meals.

Action for the day: In your journal, write down how you feel about this day's inspiration. Do any foods come to mind that you need to consider eliminating from your diet?

Cookies and fast foods are my trigger foods.  I do not eat cookies and  I am working on eliminating all fast foods from my diet.  So far doing good.

I hate to say this... just about any food is my trigger food...my name is Faith and I am in love with food...and I know of no food that I love to eat that I am willing to eliminate...however I am choosing not to eat the trigger foods as often...I just had to keep it real and be honest with myself.

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown

My trigger food is any carb in excess, carbs are my posion when I open the door it's hard to close it.  I must keep my carb count between 50 and 75 daily to maintain healthy eating habits.

It was sweets (candy especially) for a while until my NUT helped me understand why I was craving what I hadn't craved before.   I was primarily a salt/fat eater, not sweets (especially candy) because my mom was strict about nothing candy (and sweets limited).

About 6 mos post op I started having bouts of low blood sugar and then came the I want candy (especially chocolate) now!   As I am trying to manage the reactive hypoglycemia I am finding that I feel extremely sick after eating something sweet.   I have gotten better in the last month of avoiding these types of foods and the hypoglycemic episodes seem to be getting better.   My body does not function well below 80mg/dl and I feel not that hot above 170mg/dl so this is forcing me to better monitor what I am putting my mouth again which is a good thing.

I'm like Faith in a sense, because I love food, so anything can be dangerous in the wrong combination or amount for me especially now, so it is one moment at a time every second.   I swear I think about food all damn day and that is frustrating!

Interesting.  I have had increasing sweet cravings post op.  I go through a large bag of splenda a week.  Perhaps I'll start testing my blood sugars.  Today I was at 82 about an hour after breakfast.  I have to look into if that is good or bad.

Trigger foods are the big issue for me.  I avoid keeping fruit around because It is my food of choice.  My real issue is occaisional bing eating.

Becaise I know the damage it can cause, I only have a true binge on near zero calorie foods.  Lettuce, cabage, no cal dressings.  Binge eating is a whole dfferent animal.  What you eat matters very little.  Its not about the food.  I can and have stuffed my pouch all day for less than 100 calories.
