i was approved for the lapband but i rather have the mini gastric bypass. any advise. do i have to get approve again by the insurance company

I would ask my doctor because maybe he could say that he prefers the bypass over the lapband, I don't know, just throwing something out there that I would do.

I believe that your would have to get it approved also. It is a different procedure

I changed procedures and had to resubmit all paperwork. You've already proven medical necesssity. Unless you've been loosing weight nicely ever since this won't be an issue. Insurance just has to approve the new procedure as appropriate and covered. Good luck.
