Hey everyone, I am an oldie to this site but have not been online since Sept. 2009, My lap band took place Jan.12, 2004. My higest weight was 398 lbs. and at the time of surgery 354. I am now 268 but not planning to join the 100 lbs. off club until I am 254 I know it has been a long time but I am high risk with multiple illnesses that God is healing me from. I don't seem to see any of the old bandsters and so I feel lonely and lost. Due to coumodin, and diabeties and CHF (lots of edemah) I can't follow many of the basic rules. I have to limit my fluid intake and can't eat to many green vegetables. My doctor had stop seeing medicare patients for 4 years and I found him again and because I am not a success story he is not interested in me coming to hes support group. My father always told me actions speaks louder then words. I'm just getting out of a 3 mo stay in the hospital and nursing home. Man am I glad to be alive. The Lord is good. I am looking for new OH friends, I am a more mature christian woman looking to encourage and be encouraged. My goal is 145 lbs. and I know I will make it. I just did not think it would take this long.

Hi Coke

I don't have a lapband but I am here for you, we all are.  Most people left the board when it decided to go to using share buttons so that is why you haven't gotten a response.   But there are a few lapbanders still on here that you can find encouragment from.

Your surgeon is a asshole, plain and simple.   Screw him and move on to another.

Keep trying to make your goal,  i'm trying to lose some gained weight myself and even though it's really hard i'm still trying not to give up.

Hi Salty, it's a pleasure to meet you, thank you for your encouraging words and yes I will keep on trying until I reach my goal. I have not been on in so long that I was not aware of the share thing but now that I'm back i'm sure I will find out how that affects us as members. i want to encourage you also with your weight lost. pray for a transformation of your thinking as far as your relationship; to food. I'm beganning to see bread as glue. Flour and water sticking to my insides. when I was teaching we made a paste with flour and water and the kids would glue pictures to construction paper. It also works with sugar and water and flour (glue) donuts, see what I menan.. I need to do something to lose the desire.for certain foods.Thank you for responding to my post and may the victory be ours. Have a blessed day.

Hi Coke -- I'm around off and on.  I didn't have issues with privacy because there was only the illusion of privacy; I'm not sure if it even exists on the internet - LOL!  Anyway, I'm usually on facebook, but I still try to check out BAF at least once a week.  If you need specific answers of help, just send me a message.  There is still plenty of support around on OH

Peace and Blessings

This board has gotten quiet but we do support each other.  Which procedure you had does not matter.  We are here for you.

Look how far you've come.  A total of 130 lbs in all is success

You are a work in progress like most of us are.  The rules need adjusting for our non obesity related health issues so we just do it.  Its hard to find docs who take medicare, but find soneone to support you and handle your fills and coordinate your nutritional needs.  Take care of the physical you.

Then take care of the emotional blocks to your continued success.  I think its the bigest struggle.  Even with your limitations, there's a food plan out there for you that will get the next 100 lbs off.  Seek support to stick with it.  I use this board and Overeaters Anonymous.  Links to OA are in my signature.

Last, beware of isolation and depression.  When you are chronically ill this is an enormous risk.  I know this first hand.  If you lay in that pit your eating goes out the window.  Even if you don't over eat you don't make the best nutritional choices.  Don't let yourself go there.  Keep reaching out.

YOU CAN DO THIS.  YOU WILL DO THIS.  YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

you are full of such great information, thank you so much and I think I will check out the over eatters site. I wil be so glad when I have reached my goal and stick my victory flag into the soil and shout out ' Success and thank you God ' and never go back to the abusive eatting.

Hey thurr,
I am an old bandster who was also banded in 2004. Like Pickles said, there are still a few around but many if not MOST of the others like myself are now on the Vertical sleeve board due to having revisions. If there is anyone in particular that you are looking for, you stand a good chance of finding them there. Best wishes on your health I can totally relate.

Hi Coke. Unfortunately the board is very slow since OH made some changes. Don't feel you are alone. The LapBand board is always pretty active and there are several there that have been much more successful than I have.

I noticed you are in Naperville. My Doctor is in Oakbrook right on Butterfield Road. He took me on after I relocated from Az. Get records from your old surgeon and find someone that will work with you. If nothing else their support meetings are open to any and all Band patients. You can PM for more info or check out the site www.synchronyhealthchicago.com
