Nausea
Hi all,
I haven't posted in quite some time but I lurk almost every day.
I'm 15 mos post op and I've been experiencing some serious bouts of nausea. The first year it happened maybe 3 or 4 times which was tolerable but now it is quite often like every other day. Most times I can suppress it with ginger-ale which is the only thing that works, but now it's getting harder to repress.
It starts out with nausea then escalates to my mouth filling with saliva (ew) then the violent heaves which nothing ever comes up just retching for about 15 minutes and constanly spitting.
It's so bad that a couple of times I had to get off the train and get to a garbage can and this week I had to leave my boot camp class before it even started.
It's so disgusting and embarrassing.
I haven't been able to pinpoint the cause because nothing about any of the episodes is consistent.
I'm currently awaiting an appointment with my PCP so that I can get a referral to see the surgeon but I was wondering have any of you experienced this and can you speculate the cause?

Nausea is my early warning sign that I'm over eating. Even If I don't feel full and my weighed portion is fine, MsPouch has had enough. I still weigh and measure each meal.
For me, nausea means I've eaten too much and I'd better stop or dump. I don't dump easily unless I drink right after I eat. At the first sign of nausea I stop eating and wait at least an hour before drinking. Works every time.
Hope you feel better.

Could it be you need some water followed by a little protein to start your day? Its hard to drink then get on the train. Maybe just four to eight ounces of sf gingerale or plain water; and, something like turkey pepperoni, or 97% ff cold cuts, or Baybebel light cheese. Fifty to seventy five calories, virtually no carbs.
Good morning, Hugga!
Since this is happening before you eat & first thing in the am, try having a saltine or two to see if that settles the nausea. I rarely eat crackers, but they have always worked to settle my stomach, both before and since wls.
Also, you stated that you are seeking an appointment with your PCP. Since this is a tummy issue, I would make my first contact with wl surgeon instead, even if just a phone call to his/her office. They might be able to bypass the referral process since it is stomach related.
I hope you can resolve the issue soon!
