When to say, "Enough is enough"

I just had a quick question.  I had surgery about 8 months ago and since then I've lost 67lbs and I am totally happy about that.  My concern is not the way other's view me but the way I view myself.  I know I've lost a good amount of weight, I mean when I first started on this journey I wore a tight 18 and I am now in an 8/10 (I'm only 5"1).  It's just today my pa (physician's assistant) told me that she thought I only needed to lose about 6lbs, which would put me at 140.  I looked at her like she was crazy.  It's just that my friends and family have been saying the same thing, that I'm getting too skinny and that I should stop where I am but I don't think so.  I look at myself and I still see the thunder thighs with all the lumps, bumps and dimples, the protruding hips and wide (not plump) butt.  I'm just wondering if other people who have lost large amounts of weight go through the same thing.  Did you just wake up one day and say, "ok, I'm happy, I've lost enough"?  I have a very obsessive personality and my concern is that I won't know when enough is enough.

I have a friend who is the same height.  She keeps her weight around 127-131.  If she goes over, she goes back to strict eating.   She wears a size 6 in pants.   If you feel like you need to lose more, I say go for it.   After I have my surgery, I told myself that I will not listen to anyone but myself, you did the surgery for yourself.

Congrats on losing so much.

Thank you. People around me have been saying things about the weight loss for a while, probably bc they are not used to me at this size. It's just when the dr told me that I was a little thrown off. I'm going to keep pushing it until I get to my goal that way I can hopefully maintain a weight around 125-130.

**** other people.  It's about you and the mirror.  Work at it till you like what YOU see.  any mofo who wants you to be otherwise don't give a flip about you.  I didn't have a goal weight in my head so much as a size.  I got to a size 8 and didn't really like it - I wear 12/14 now - I weigh 200lbs.  I weight lift like a junkie tho - so I work to make sure the shape I see in the mirror is what I like.  It's a lil blurry but here's me yesterday in my new summer shorts.......  now the scale SAYS 200...but umm....I don't SEE 200 like I used to see 200.......LOL!!!

Girlfriend, you are looking GOOD!  Or is it 'Gooder than a mugg'?  LOL, you know I am no good with the vernacular.

When my baby was in high school the gym rats her age would have described your arms and legs as
diesel.  Keep pressing that weight girl.   Do it!

LOL @ gooder than a mugg!!!

Thanks for the compliment!  I wore a dress to work the other day - nothing tight or inappropriate - but classy with just a sprinkle of sexy.... I had what I call a 'lemme-git-that-for-ya' day - when every dude I come across gets the door, the package, the straw off the table if need be!  LMAO - I LOVE those days!!!!

Now is time to decide what you want for yourself.  Its all about you not the pa or anyone else.

Surgeon's offices often set goals as a percentage of exces weght lost.  Per that, I'm at "goal".  Once I hit six months out, my surgeon and I revised it downward to a solidly "normal" bmi.

"Goal" was still over weight.   However, medical journals describe wls success as keeping 50-65% of the excess weight off forever.   At 80%, most folks think I'm done.  I won't be done until I'm no longer over weight.  I want to loose 21 more.  That's 13 agreed upon to a normal bmi and an additional 9 to my ideal weight as a cushion.

Size wise I'm ok.  But this is not just about size.  I'm not trying to get skinny although I'd like slender.  My goal is no co morbidities.  Over weight is not cutting it for me.  You'll have to decide what is important to you.
