I loose at a slow rate too.  Everyone does not get a honeymoon of automatic quick weight loss.  The up side is although it may be slow and inconsistent, the fat will come off.  Eventually.

I had to give up all fruit at your stage.  My surgeon's plan already excluded carbs except for produce with various items phased in one by one.  I started weight gain around five weeks out on about 500 cals a day.  The surgeon set my diet to 1100 cals daily.

It will be harder if you have hormonal/ metabolic issues but not impossible.  You will have to eat differently than other wls folks.  For me that's much fewer carbs.  I've averaged 1350 calories and less than 50g net carbs daily. Yet  I've  lost just 16 lbs since August.  I work out almost daily, 1 hr cardio and 1 half hr strength.  It is frustrating very frustrating.

I've finally accepted that's just how I'm made.  Over a year, just 85 lbs lost.  But, pre op it took five years t loose just 50 lbs.   Fortuately, I have a surgeon whon has rny and two docs that understand hormonal issues will fkcu up your progress eved after wls.  But, pre op I could not loose weigh at all.

We will be frustrated but it will happen.  You may have to work to figure out what your body responds to.  I've done a lot of research and I'm still researching.  Body builder diets modified for high protein low carb work best for me so far.  Less gain between my wl.

I take two steps forward one step back but In am getting there.  Albeit slowly.  You will too if you are willing to cut out what you need to.

i had the vertical sleeve procedure and I been diagnosed of having polycycstic ovarian syndrome for years which if you didn't know is a hormonal/metabolic issue. I had trouble losing weight too before surgery and when I saw a nutritionist before the surgery I had to keep a watchful eye on my carb intake. I just realized today that I may have to switch up my protein shake powder I been using the muscle milk brand and it has 300calories and 110 grams of fat! so I'm gonna switch for a lighter version or something. I have my next visit on april 29th. Thanks for your input cuz I been REALLY stressing cuz I want to make this work for me. If you could make a suggestion of where I can find hgh protein/low carb diets that would be wonderful! My dr. told me I don't need fruit right now either

WOW, I hope that's 300 cal with 110 cal from fat for two scoops not one!

My surgeon requires max 5g carb per scoop with at least 20g protein.  He has RNY also so he lives by this himself.  The following meet or come close to his standard even when mixed with water.  All are easy to find at places like GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, Target, Walmart, and online (Netrition).

100% whey protein
Body Fortress 140 cal/ 26g protein/ 4g carb/ 2g fat
EAS 120 cal/ 23g protein/ 3g carb/ 2g fat

Egg white protein
Healthy 'N Fit Nutritionals 106 cal/ 24g protein/ 0g carb/ 0g fat
Jay Robb 120 cal/ 24g protein/ 4g carb/ 0g fat

Soy protein
GNC 130 cal/ 25g protein/ 5g carb/ 1.5g fat

Other
Spiru-tein
UNSWEETENED 80 cal/ 14g protein/ 5g carb/ 0g fat MUST MIX WITH MILK TO MEET PROTEIN REQUIREMENT OF 20G+  USE ZERO CALORIE SWEETNER ONLY

You may never loose fast but you will loose.  Stick to plan religiously and be sure to exercise daily.   I was lucky my doc understands hormones.  Most are clueless so if you are doing the right thing and struggling be assertive.  Good luck.  You will do this.

Which type of surgery did you have, the band?  I think we can help you better once we know which surgery you had.  In general, are you exercising too?  You'll have to make sure that you incorporate exercising with this process every day.
