Dang, it's a shame that my momma is sick because she was a ruff and tuff character. She never really disciplined my kids because she only saw them about 3-4 times a year but she sure told me what to do with that "bad" boy I had.  lol   Whew, that child had his share of whoopings and then my daughter waited patiently until she turned 18 and moved out to act a fool !!!!!

I still can scare them with my methods of  "knowing" things that they think I don't know about but a belt wielding momma is the best !!!! lol

My 12 yo daughter is going thru the same ish!!!!

But you know what,,, I have spoiled her ass though.

Her room looks like Baghdad, and what do I do? Give some warmed over threat, that we BOTH know I aint gonna ever act on.

I cant help it,,,, she is my little girl.

But, to the ole lady(wife) the "little girl" represents her work out.

My wife has beat her ass to the point of sweating to a P90X video.

I do the same as you, hide around the corner and laugh.

Am I the only black mama who doesnt give her kid spankings?? I used to get 'beat 'all the time over everything and to this day I resent my mother.

Maybe it depends on the child? but I dont do the spanking thing.Ihave tapped that tail once or twice lightly with a switch, but not enough to even hurt.

In general I am grateful that time out, loss of toys and priviledges is working for now with my son (he's 8).  I remember spanking him once when he was 5 and he did not even care at all, and I was the one that ended up feeling bad!!! But he hates punishment with a passion.

 I am not judging anyone, I just wonder who else is like me in that regard.

See, I know I have to balance things out - I am blessed to be in a financial position to give her more than my mom gave me - and we weren't poor by a long shot.  BUT - I do notice that she has a tinge of a sense of entitlement that needs to be taken down........ cause ain't nothing in this life free.

woo, this post had me crackin up and taking notes. That's MY kinda "Bigmama"...work that grandbaby out in good old school fashion. I too, find myself giving mine more than they need...the sense of "entitlement" will work itself up in a heartbeat. When it does raise its ugly head the "nothing electronic in your room (at all)" and "this belt is for you" usually work it back down.
