I'm so tried of people acting like having gastic bypass was and is the easy way out and they act like the weight just drops off of me.

A few ladies at the gym have asked me how did I loose weight and I do say at after surgery and they then their noise's go up in the air acting like I just woke up one day and 113 lbs was gone NOT!! any of us who have RNY know this take work in the food, mental and workout departments.

I wish they all would get a clue!! sorry I just had to vent!!

You are sooo right!!!!!!!!!!!  RNY is in no way the "easy way" out.  In fact after I had the surgery and I was on my "honeymoon"..........I thought it  I would be on my honeymoon for ever.
After gaining 23 lbs. back, that was a serious serious reality check and wake up call for me!

To be honest, in a gym situation.........I'd probably not even answer the "how'd you lose weight" question.  I'd just smile and say "I lost it the hard way"..............

If it were the easy way out I would not have spent the last 2.5 years trying to lose the weight I re-gained.

Even if it is easy for some who the weight just falls off, they still have to work like hell to keep it off, just like any other diet.

I totally agree with you! People should keep their mouths shut, especially if they have no clue what the surgery entails. We are not lazy, despite what they may seem to think! People can be such jerks!

I love when people say that to me, and when they do I look em dead in the eyeballs and say " I sure in the hell did, I easily saved my life now what? Out of the many logical reasons as to why wls is needed, the most important being to save lives, there are just as many stupid reasons as to why a person would choose NOT to have it if it is "available" . To many it isn't available, so I consider having it a life blessing and refuse to allow anyone to steal my greatfulness for what God allowed with that foolishness.

If NOTHING ELSE, every single person who has had wls have displayed COURAGE and that bothers many a folk, so they bash, become the ghost of wls past by giving every morbid story that they think that they know, and go to great lengths in attempts to break the spirit of those who dare to fly. If you notice, you will also come across those who do display the courage and will be supportive until their time comes, and those who may not have had it before and bash will often later jump on the bandwagon and have wls themselves and then come to you and expect for you to be excited for them as if their torture had never occured. grrrrr now I'm venting lol.

How ironic that you posted this today and I had a similar experience. A lady I work with (and don't like at all) came to me with a very fake smile and said "you are looking so good. OMG! How much have you lost already." So, I told her 75 lbs. She said, "good for you! I'm so happy for you." She then proceeded to walk down the isle way with me and said, " I'm trying to lose weight too but I'm doing it the hard way!" I stopped and looked and her and said "good for you. But the way I'm doing it is in no way easy. Trust me, there's nothing easy about it!" I wanted to cuss her out but I was at work and I already don't like her so it would have been no problem to tear her a new a**hole. I was upset about it and told a co-worker. once I vented I was good. I recognize jealousy a mile away and it's okay. She has a very good reason to be jealous. I look like this and she looks like.... that! And I'm not even close to goal! I say haters make the world go round. I love'em. If you don't have haters you not doing something right! So hate on me all you want! LOL!

I just wanted to chime in and agree.  So many people think we have to do nothing after having the surgery.  Everyone's experience is different.  My sister had RNY almost 6 years ago or something like that, never worked out a day in her life before or after surgery.  The weight fell off and she has maintained it off as well.  that is NOT my story....everyone is different and this surgery is not blanket easy fix....i had to work hard for every single pound i lost....My honeymoon only last 2 weeks, where i lost 23 pounds in those 2 weeks.  From that point, it's been an avg of 2 pounds a week, maybe more some weeks, but that's about it....and that's with me in the gym 5-6 x a week....it's not easy, and those who think it is really **** me off.  I had to learn how to eat all over again, I track my dailiy caloric/carb/protein intake EVERY DAY....as well as documenting how many calories i burned in the gym to make sure i'm at a caloric deficit each and every day.  Being accountable like that day in and out is nothing easy......so screw anyone who thinks it is.

LOL...ok, i'm done adding my vent now....sorry.
