Anyone had this? Pain in upper abdomen, surgery 4/1

This will be exploratory surgery but the doctor thinks I have either an internal hernia, twisted bowels causing a partial obstruction or a gall stone stuck in the bile duct (gallbladder removed in 2006).  Has anyone had anything this this happen to you?  I am kinda nervous because they have to go through the old stomach, then trough the intestine just to look at the bottom of the bile duct.  They said its a tricky surgery and will try to do it laporscopic but may have to convert it to an open surgery if there are complications. 

If anyone has had something similar please share so I can know what to expect.  I appreciate your assistance.

I HAD THE EXPLORATORY AND THEY FOUND INTERNAL HERNIA THAT WAS REALLY TWISTED WITH INTESTINES, HAD IT LAP AND I TOO WAS NERVOUS BUT THE PAIN WAS SOOO OVERWHELMING THAT I WAS GLAD IT WAS BEING ADDRESSED. I ONLY STAYED IN HOSPITAL A  DAY WENT HOME WITH PAIN KILLERS AND HAVE BEEN FINE. THEY PUT YOU UNDER THE SAME AS HAVING AN EGD DONE...

Wow, well it is comforting to know that it worked out fine for you...gives me some relief. Thank you for your response.  I pray they find what is bothering me and take care of it.  My pain comes and goes, but when it hits, its a mother.  Glad you are doing well.
