Hello BAF....

If you are short tempered and can't seem to Deal with different opinions on pubic message boards or have not taken your psychotic medication you could end up in court...DO not let bullies and very lonely people here on OH scare you into hiding out and not showing your avatar thinking they will just willy nilly post pics of you on other websites WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION IT IS ILLEGAL AND you can SUE if you catch the person doing it.. AND oh they can be tracked and traced down by IP addresses, if they go to a public library or post from someone else home then whom ever computer that they use can be traced....I think I will start opening up my profile now and dare my enemies...to share it.....

But seriously tho....last year when I was in traffic court there was a girl went to jail for email and Internet harassment .aka...constant flaming on a message board..people lives have to to be very very sad and boring to flame and fight with people on the Internet that they don't know.

Happy reading

LOS ANGELES (AFP) ? An Internet surfer has filed a potential class action lawsuit against US online giant Yahoo, accusing it of sheltering anonymous users who electronically harass message board users.

The action, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court late Wednesday, alleged that the California-based Internet provider protected message board users who anonymously posted abusive and defamatory remarks about others.

Attorney Stephen Galton sued Yahoo after the company refused to reveal the name of message board posters on its service who allegedly harassed Galton on a message board, the suit showed.

Yahoo representative could not immediately be reached for comment on the action.

Copying from the Internet Myth: "The Internet is a Public Domain."
This is not true! Most Internet content, including images, is protected by copyright. You need permission to use it. You also need to credit the author or creator.

Text on the Internet is no different than text in a book or newspaper. Anything that another person writes, including email, is copyright protected. Internet plagiarism often involves copying text or images from websites, blogs, forums and social media sites.

Copying from the Internet is very easy to do. The World Wide Web is a growing international community. It loses its reputation when copyright rules are broken.

Its unlikely your harasser will actually be prosecuted despite the law.  Most victims don't have the resources to persue justice.  DA's have bigger crimes to prosecute.  Plus the damage is already done by the time it gets to court.

That person who goes to jail is still the exception to the rule.  Most likely there is no money for justice through a civil suit.  Theses ******** are happy to take their chances.

Yahoo groups atually have a policy stating you need the posters permission to paste their post elsewhere.  We know for every one prosecuted there are hundreds more getting off scott free.
