Hi All,
When obese, my blood pressure was always extremely low...Close to a year post op and have developed high blood pressure since losing the weight. Doc said it is a mystery to him. I say it genetics and constant stress. The reason why I had wls is to avoid diseases associated with obesity, but here I am.  No worries, I'm gonna handle it, but just wondering if anyone else has the situation?

My blood pressure went down, however a few months ago my PCM gave me a low strength high blood pressure pill, which reminds me I need to get filled.  But even as a teenager, I remember my blood pressure being elevated off and on and even during my fit Marine Corps years the same thing.

I blame genetics too.  Grandad, Grandma, Mom, at least one uncle...and that's all on my mom's side.  Dad was adopted, so don't know what's on his side of the family.

Just try practicing relaxation techniques; at least that's my plan to try to maintain it.

My elevated blood pressure before and after WLS turned out to be caused by an Aldosterone issue in my kidneys.  My Nephrologist prescribed a medicine that corrected it.

My $.02:  Find a good Nephrologist and have him/her run a full series of test to see if your kidneys are functioning properly.

The first couple of years post op my blood pressure was lower than normal, but now it's been running borderline high.  My doctor put me on Inderal, but I think I might have to change to a different one.  I think mine is stress related because I've picked up a lot of new responsibilities and I'm WAY overdue for a vacation.

I probably should start exercising, but I'm a lazy mug.

yes, I had high BP before WLS then it went down for a while and I was "borderline" but it's been back up again for the last couple of years so I'm back on BP meds again (I take Benicar).

Yes, I blame stress and genetics too.

Yes it happened to me about  a year later and losing half of myself an a normal BMI I was diagnosed with hypertension, I was told I had true hypertension/genetic because I was of normal weight I've taken medication for the last 2 years to keep it under control............I think we had the same Dr to do our surgery Dr T.
