60 lbs
I have a question, i have been up to 220, and cant get back up to 200, i dont mind the exercise, its my diet that stops the show, so i sought out wls..and am planning to have lap band in April..i am wondering if my goal is to small for me to inquire or partake in such? i do currently have HBP..and a mom and dad that are both morbid and have heart problems as well as diabetes, and im just trying to prevent and help take better care of myself..
The accepted guideline is 100 lbs over weight, bmi greater than 40. With serious co morbidities, a lower amount of excess weight and a lower bmi may be acceptable. Check with your insurance carrier for their approval guidelines.

I assume that since you are planning to have WLS next month, you already had a chat with your primary care physician about options for weight loss, and if he/she thought that you should pursue the Lap Band. There are no hard and fast regulations for who qualifies for WLS- it all depends on what your insurance says you need to have to qualify. My insurance required a BMI>40 and co-morbidities for coverage. WLS is not a quick diet fix though, you will have to get your habits in check because people have failed themselves even post-op because they don't make the needed lifestyle changes. Wishing you the best in finding out what's right for you.
Yes i have checked with my PCP, and she was the one that provided the referral,i trust had she not felt as though i needed it and did not think it was related to my hypertension, i dont feel she would have refered me and my insurance requierd a BMI of 35 and one or more medical ailments related to my weight.., so i qualify coverage wise,,and i have always worked on my habits, it was just never enough. I refuse to let it get out of hand anymore than it already has.
