Hey Ms Pickles, how long should I run if no one is chasing me???
I've nver been a runner unless I've got to make a quick getaway. Even then I'm not very fast.
I am bored to death with cardio, all types. I've started doing Gateway to 8K. The problem is its too short. A 45 min run is not challenging cardiac wise but its a ***** on my calves. I need at least 60 minutes at target heart rate which is 70-75 min total cardio workout. On G-2-8k You don't hit the 60 min max until late in the program.
Should I run longer? Add another 25 min of something else? What do you think? Normal cardio is 70-90 minutes, doc's orders over the last few years. I don't want my cardiac level to slip and I really need the calorie burn. I'm runing every other day, three times a week.
Suggestions?

If the 8K isn't doing it move up to the 10K training. Listen to your body though especially with running if your calves are telling you to give them a break give them that break or you will start to break down.
I liked the 10K, it was much better than then 8K for me because it pushed me. I kept up with the pace which was challenging.
Time to move up girl. Gateway to 10K.

I'm not surprised by your answer. I knew from day one the 8k was a little too easy but I was kind of liking the break, lol. Lazy me.
I guess I have to start stetching before and after. Confession: I have not been stretching at all with my runs. That may solve the calf issue. They feel tight for a while after I'm done running. Time to look up some stretching routines and maybe move my yoga to before and after running.
Highway to 10k here I come.
Thanks Ms SP, .
