9 years post op (RNY) and I'm finally getting this old body fixed!  I've been approved by my insurance (Anthem BCBS) for a brachioplasty and I am self paying for a medial thigh lift and upper body lift.

My date has been set for Friday, March 19th!

To all those who are frustrated or discouraged with the plastic surgery process....don't give up!  It has taken me 9 years to get to tthis point and I never thought it would happen.  I had almost given in and started to believe that I would have to live with this deflated body for the rest of my life.

Ok......now I'm excited!!!!

Congratulations first of all on being successful with your WLS 9 years out.

Best wishes for a successful outcome with your plastic surgery.  I'm not familiar with your previous posts regarding this, so I have a few questions, please, if you don't mind.  How much weight did you lose?  Who is doing your surgery?  How long will the procedures take to perform?  What is your estimated recovery time?

Thanks and there aren't any previous posts about it because I haven't talked about it.  I've been working on this for quite some time (5 years actually) and it's finally gonna happen.  I just kept hitting road blocks along the way and finally gave up until a few months ago I decided to give it a try again.

Anyway, I was 290 when I had my WLS and got down to 165.  I maintained pretty good until about 2 years ago then I started gaining slowly.  I am now up 25 pounds (190)   but I also just found out that I have an underactive thyroid which is now being treated with medication.

I am having my surgery done through the Baylor Residency Program  and I've been told I will be in surgery for approx. 5 1/2 hours for all 3 procedures.  I'll be off work for 4 weeks for recovery.

I'm surprised that they would be able to do it so quickly.  That's great that you won't have to be under anesthesia for a long time.

I'll confess that sometimes I do get a little bit bummed out about my Shar Pei rolls.  If I only could figure out a way to cut them off myself...

I think 5 1/2 hours IS a long time!  This will be the longest surgery I've ever had.  All my priors have been laproscopic except the TT/hysterectomy but it was only a couple hours long.  Soooo, I'm a little nervous about that
