I joined because as I read the posts there was a wealth of knowledge and shared experiences....An African proverb states, "It takes a whole village to raise a child".  My OH proverb is, "It takes a whole OH Family to raise CONQUERERS"!...gotta love the support!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Need the support and help from folks who have did this before and after me. I come here I can ask questions get same answers but different approaches and variety prevents boredom. Support is what is needed to keep me going

 The Support Ive gotten from this site is crazy!!!!!! Definitely one of the best things I could have ever done for myself.....

For support and to learn from vets who normalized my experiences as a new post-op... and now being a year out, I'm learning from all the folks on the PS board.

Research.  

Ten years ago there were far fewer sites for info on multiple procedures.  Today this is just a preliminary info site, but back then it was one of the most detailed written in layman's terms.

Post op, its a daily support group for me.  It helps me stay on track. 

Thank you everyone for your words of wisdom.  Accountability is important.. I know I need that right now.  I know I am at the right place in my life. Just waiting for my date to know when I am having the operation..   Thank you all ,   KingPure

When I orginally joined in 2003, it was because I was learning about WLS, and doing a yahoo search for people who had WLS and sucess stories came across this site, I loved it from the moment I entered.  I could get information, share my woes, and just speak with others who were just like me.  I stopped communicating with this site in 11/2004, and my profile was discontinued.  I opted then not to have WLS it scared me to death.  Now I am ready, and have returned.  It is good to see all the people who started out then become successful.
