African American Hair loss after Lap Band

Hello, I am a new member to the forum, but am extremely glad I found it. I will be having lap band surgery on March 30. I have been to several other forums where members that have lap band have reported hair loss. I was advised that with lap band hair loss is less then with the other forms of surgery.  I have a question that no one has been able to answer. I am wondering if African American women that have lap band surgery, also experience the same amount of hair loss as other ethnic groups?  Of course our hair grows differently, so with the amount of shedding that alot of other bandsters report, I am concerned about losing all of my hair.  Is there anyone in this forum that could shed some light on hair loss for African Americans after WLS? Thanks.

I did not have have the lap band, but have noticed with the RNY, I am losing lots of hair.  I don't think anyone else has noticed, but, I have experienced what I consider a lot.  Thank goodness for my fro, it covers up a lot.

Hello, before my revision to RNY I had the lap-band. I personally did not experience any noticeable hair loss with the lap-band. Wish I could say the same for the RNY.

Hello, I am new to the site.  I am in the early stages of the process.  I wear a short natural hair style. So air loss or how much hair is  concerning.  I am this side effect is temporary.
Would the loss be similar to a chemo patient's hair loss, or balding?

I had the Lap band and I experienced some hair loss.  My cousin had the same surgery about two weeks before me and had the same thing happen.  At this time both of us has noticed the hair loss has stopped.  No one else noticed the hair loss but I could see it every time I combed my hair.   I posted this concern on the board and got good support.  I also started taking fish oil supplements and I believed they helped.  Good luck. 

Good luck and best wishes I lost all mine I got length but thick and full GONE and I tried everything almost 4 years out and I can't get it to grow for nothing but I guess it's like this skinny or no hair hummm what u think about that??
